Daisuke Namikawa, Persona 4 the Golden Animation Offer VR Voice Actor Training

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

VR Theater announced the world's first voice actor training course utilizing virtual reality on Tuesday. The beginner's course will features voice actor Daisuke Namikawa and the Persona 4 the Golden Animation anime.

The voice acting agency Stay Luck, which Namikawa founded, is partnering with VR Theater to provide the VR training course for voice actors. Namikawa acts as a navigator for the course and provides information about conduct inside a studio, proper attire, recording methods, and other facets of voice actors' work.

People who take the course will be able to participate in a practice recording session. The realistic VR voice recording session will feature a new Persona 4 the Golden Animation video. Namikawa starred in the 2014 television anime as Yū Narukami.

The course will be debut at the "Persona Super Live P-Sound Bomb!!!! 2017 ~Minato no Hankō wo Mokugeki Seyo!~" (Persona Super Live P-Sound Bomb!!!! 2017: Witness the Harbor Crime) event, which will be held at Yokohama Arena on August 2. There will be six one-hour time slots for the course on the day of the event. The course will be about 11 minutes long and cost 600 yen (about US$5).

Because the number of participants will be limited, a lottery will choose the people who will be able to participate. The application period is running from July 19 to 26, and the winners will be announced on July 28.

"Beginner" and "practice" versions of the course will debut on August 3 at Internet and manga cafes that offer VR Theater. Both experiences will be about 11 minutes long.

The "Persona Super Live P-Sound Bomb!!!! 2017 ~Minato no Hankō wo Mokugeki Seyo!~" (Persona Super Live P-Sound Bomb!!!! 2017: Witness the Harbor Crime) event will also feature the original game series' music performers such as Lyn, Yumi Kawamura, Lotus Juice, Shihoko Hirata, and Shoji Meguro. Character designer Shigenori Soejima designed the event's main visual. Regular tickets to the event are on sale now.
