Did anyone even fansub this? I don't remember a lot of talk when this was coming out, but I guess it'll appeal to people who like the stuff.
But really, I wa shock. Last edited by walw6pK4Alo on Wed Jul 01, 2009 3:14 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Blah! Good thing I wasn't looking forward to this I would have been pissed! they are still releasing English Sub DVD's.. (Fansubs on Disc's) ADV just needs to give up.

Why should they if people are still willing to buy their items? Oh yes, let's just end our company because someone is bitching online because they don't approve of our business practices. |

I've never seen any fan-subbed DVDs. So if they exist, they are not popular.
AFAIK, only a few of the early episodes have been fansubbed. It's weird no one is bringing over the new movies, though. |

Well, I think that it's great for FotNS fans to have a new title out. I might even check it out being a newbie to FotNS.

The usual Mario throwing the same ole tantrums about sub-only releases, on any story related to ADV. Guess he can't handle manly anime.
But in seriousness, as for this news, I think it's a really nice pick up actually. It has a legacy via the Fist of the North Star name to tap into, so that's good from a business perspective. In recent times, people have been saying Sentai and ADV have been focusing too much on cute/drama slanted titles and have not been picking up enough action, guy stuff. This seems like this is an answer to that. Diversity is key! As much as I enjoy ADV's bread and butter licenses that they are known for -- comedy, cute, moe, drama stuff... not everyone is into that. More action and more mecha stuff will do them well. Last edited by SXAniMedia on Wed Jul 01, 2009 3:14 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Definitely great news. I love it when companies go to both sides of the anime spectrum, as titles like Clannad and Ten no Haoh are probably as different as you can get. I have to say, as much as I like what a company like Nozomi does I do wish they would do something other than slower-paced shows and do at least one title on the opposite side of the spectrum. And this is technically one of the early stories in FotNS, so I guess you could watch it first... Some parts might not be explained fully, but that's what the main series is for. |

Chris Oarr should have emailed me to let me know.
Still, fantastic news. Clearly this is the result of my awesome article from last year about this TV series drumming up UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS of awareness. At the time it was airing, I opted to watch this entire series raw on the assumption that nobody would fansub it. Turns out that I was only half right.
Sort of. I just wrote another, more different Fist of the North Star article earlier this week that notes that all of the new Fist of the North Star anime and manga are technically separate from the original stuff. Still, continuity is not really that big an issue here. More Fist of the North Star getting released in the US is always welcome in my book. Now bring on the new movies/OAVs and a US version of the PS2 game! It's already almost entirely in English anyway. All you'd have to do is translate some menu text and fix the spelling of Souther's name. |

Now if ADV would have it in their hearts to rescue VOTOMS...

This is awesome.
Now if ADV would just get off there ass and reliscense the original series and finish releasing it (my five DVDs on my shelf are lonely), the perhaps the movies, and maybe, MAYBE, Souten no Ken (Fist of the Blue Sky). Still, Raoh is awesome, indeed. |

Yet another blisteringly ignorant comment to add to the vast collection. Moving on, I'm definitely looking forward to this as any Hokuto no Ken-related properties being licensed is always a good thing. |

No kidding. it's these type of support for fansubs that causes losses for these companys in the first place. However releasing sub only dvds like media blasters is really upseting a lot of fans though and on it's offiical youtube site, they was screaming bloddy murder for releasing Clannad sub only. Either way I've been a diehard fist of the north star since the original and i'm really looking forward to this one. Hopefully it'll merit ADV to release a dub for this anime at well.I hope that's the case. |

Seriously is it even possible for you to consider others before you say anything? Just because YOU don't like a series, doesn't mean everyone else wants the company to close. Moving on, any news of ADV licensing new shows or making money is always good news to hear. I only wish I heard good news like this more often. |

Mario:
Then go back to your emo and moe slash fiction and stop ruining the moment.
The only people watching this fansubbed are the ones who'd be buying it here, anyway. AWO:
More like Crunchyroll's broadcast of the show and AMVs saved this sucker from obscurity. Plus, Discotek must actually be making money on the movie, and/or that 2-pack of the OVA with Neo Tokyo did well enough for ADV to invest in more of it. Now bringin' back the manga for a third round's the real challenge.
Don't they still have that "fansub" subsidiary?
Ain't gonna happen unless [Keep it civil] gets desperate. I'm still waiting for the PS2 Jojo and Berserk myself. hikaru: Some company could always take a chance on the new series... |
