This is for people who like some store credit for their old DVDs and manga/novels and see some sweet deals whenever the price fluctuates in their favor. Plus, unlike E-bay, there's almost no way you can be scammed. [Though they can eff up delivery of your item at the post office...] Here's the main link to enter your item, and see what you can find. So for example, you can get as much as $20 for your copy of the ADV Dirty Pair OVAs. And I currently see Five Star Stories going for $40! (new)

But normally the trade-in price is a lot lower than what you would get if you just sold the item yourself. -_-

The only time trade-ins have worked in my favor was when I saw the standard edition of The Gamers: Dorkness Rising going for $40 trade-in. The Special Edition was going for $20. I decided to upgrade. Laughing

A handy-dandy tidbit for traders, though: If you bought an item through Amazon, or have told Amazon you own the item, they'll show some of them in the sidebar down on the right of that page. I think they show the most expensive possible trade-ins.

Doesn't really ever work out for me because all of the crap I want to get rid of....is crap and they'd only give me peanuts on a card for it.

I found a few things I could turn in. I pretty much went in my collection and found stuff I bought years ago that still had plastic wrap on.

So Last Exile, Ghost Hunt, and Scrapped Princess got sent to Amazon and I got about $100 for them.

I don't like to mess with online auctions stuff, so it worked out for me. It's certainly not something I would do regularly though. But maybe once a year I can once again search for stuff that I bought but never got around to watching and get a little cash back.

That's not true. Amazon's trade-in forums are filled with complaints from people getting ripped off. Perfectly good discs and cases being swapped for damaged ones, then being returned for no credit, stuff like this seems to happen a lot.

That being said, I use the trade-in program all the time and haven't had any real problems. Although they do like to downgrade almost everything from "like new" to "good."

Their prices fluctuate pretty significantly, so if you have something you know is worth money you have to wait for the right time. When Saiunkoku went from like $4 to over $80, I jumped on it.
I picked up some mediocre titles from Deep Discount's holiday sale. Amazon will take a lot of them(unopened, new) for a lot more than what I paid for them, some almost double.

Fixed accordingly.

Anyway, they took it down before I could submit the HC version of volume 5, but anyone who's got leftover copies of the PB versions of Adolf 1 can send it in for $10. [Though it was going as high as $16 earlier. ] And Phoenix 10 goes for $40, but there was one volume they were taking in at one point for as high as $80. And the Mini-Goddess box goes for $20. So feel free to submit your (tentative) listings ASAP. Oh, and I forgot to mention anime-themed video game trade-in deals are also worth noting. The Princess Knights go for ~$3 each. And believe it or not, you can still get good prices on your leftover CPM Utenas.

I just don't understand why you guys would rather trade in items, versus just selling the items yourself. For example, just last week I sold Lum Urusei Yatsura Perfect Collection for $60. The trade-in value is $1.88. With Ghost Hunt, I could trade in my copy for $31.69, sure, or I could just sell it through Amazon and list it for $70. Rolling Eyes I mean, if you want immediate grattification, I can understand choosing to trade-in in that case. But isn't the extra $40 worth a little extra wait?

Zepys: Sometimes you get good deals from individual sales, but it takes longer.

I think it really depends on the item. I've got 1-2 items that they are offering trade in value near the current price. If I tried selling or auctioning I'd be lucky if I got 1/2 the price. Plus its a bit of a hassle with auctioning. This looks faster and more convenient, but again its not for every item.

Oh, and if you wanna trade up for the Right Stuf Gasaraki and Nadesico, the old box-sets appear to go for $20 on Amazon.

I've started trading in a lot of games this past year, but I just recently started looking through my DVD collection for things I'd never watch again. The only thing really worth any money was Gall Force: Earth Chapter, which I traded for almost 20 bucks (New Era was only worth $0.70, but I was happy to get rid of it).

I did wind up selling my End of Eva/Death & Rebirth box on eBay for around $60. I think EoE is a fine movie, maybe someday we'll see a release that doesn't look awful.

I traded my old version of Dirty Pair OVA for $13, I paid about $20 when it came out on sale. so for the most part it I think I did alright. Now yes I could of sold it on ebay or amazon and been douche and sell it for a ton more like others are doing but since I got RightStuf's version I have no need for it and I really have no need to ripoff a fan. Also I got rid of a ton of CDs and DVDs I dont want anymore anyways since I'm moving anyways and more so just wanted to get rid of it.

Well, I had a not too good of an experience with this a few weeks ago. One of the anime DVDs I was selling was brand new and unopened (bought from DeepDiscount). I was told that it was not original manufacturer packaging. When I asked what was that they just kept linking me to the description of items in different conditions. I was like yea, well it doesn't say anything there. Its sealed in plastic, has upc code, has original artwork, box is not cracked or anything so what's the deal? After a few more times of them linking me to the description, they admitted that the DVDs are inspected and purchased by a third party. They also told me that it was possible that it was damaged in transit and that's why the value was lowered. If it was damaged in transit I doubt that anyone calls that not original manufacturer packaging, plus I had other items that were actually more fragile for trade in the same box. Anything that would have compromised the brand new sealed DVD case would have seriously damaged the other items. All of this told me that they basically have no clue what was original manufacturer packaging. I told them it didn't inspire much confidence and I wasn't sure if I was going to trade them new stuff if this could happen again.
