Akitaka's 'Urami Koi, Koi, Urami Koi' Manga Ends

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Chinese Zodiac-themed manga launched in June 2014; author already working on new work

The August issue of Square Enix's Gangan Joker magazine published the final chapter of Akitaka's Urami Koi, Koi, Urami Koi manga on July 22. The manga's 11th and 12th compiled book volume will ship simultaneously this winter. The magazine noted that Akitaka is already working on a new work that will be announced in Gangan Joker sometime in the future.

The manga's story is set in Jūnishi (The Town of the Twelve), a city administered by twelve heads who each bear the name of one of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, and where human and yōkai co-exist. Kyōichi Nekuni, the head of the Rat family, meets a cat yōkai who hates the Rat family. While the cat yōkai, named natsuho Nekogasaki, threatens Kyōichi's life, she is also nervous around people.

Akitaka launched the manga in Gangan Joker in June 2014, and Square Enix shipped the manga's 10th volume last November.

Akitaka previously drew the fifth episode (End of the Golden Witch) of the Umineko When They Cry manga. Yen Press publishes the manga in English, and released the first volume of the eighth episode on April 30.

Update: Added additional detail that Akitaka is already working on new work.
