Puri Puri Chii-chan!! Anime Casts Rie Murakawa, Confirms April 15 Premiere

The official website for Shogakukan's Ciao magazine announced on Friday that Rie Murakawa will voice Chii-chan in the upcoming anime of Hiromu Shinozuka's Puri Puri Chii-chan!! manga. The website also confirmed that the series will premiere on April 15 on MBS and TBS — the series will run in the same one-hour programming block as the 100% Pascal-sensei anime, which unveiled its April 15 premiere date last month.
Shinozuka launched Puri Puri Chii-chan!! in Shogakukan's Ciao shōjo magazine in March 2015. The story revolves around a girl named Yūka, who encounters a creature named Chii-chan who comes from the depths of the Earth (the name is a pun of chiteijin, the Japanese word for underground dweller), and an alien named Ucchan (a pun of uchūjin or alien). The series follows their heartwarming and chaotic everyday lives together.
Shogakukan published the manga's third compiled volume on March 1.
Shinozuka's Chibi Devil! manga inspired an anime series in 2011. Her Milmo de Pon! manga also inspired the 172-episode Mirmo Zibang! anime series in 2002-2005.
Puri Puri Chii-chan!! and 100% Pascal-sensei will mark debut of MBS and TBS' new Saturday morning timeslot "Anime Saturday 630" (pronounced "Anime Saturday Roku San Maru"). MBS and TBS had announced in December that they were ending their "Nichigo" Sunday evening anime timeslot in April, and launching a new one-hour anime timeslot on Saturday mornings.
