posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The December issue of Kodansha's Magazine Special announced on November 20 that Daiju Yanauchi will resume serializing his Gang King manga after more than two years on hiatus, but will move the manga from Shonengahosha's Young King magazine to Magazine Special. Yanauchi will publish the new chapter in the magazine on January 20. Magazine Special will run a digest of the manga on December 19.
Kodansha will publish new editions of the compiled book volumes, starting with the first to third volumes on December 19, and continuing with three volumes every month until it reaches the current 27th volume.
The manga's story centers around Jimmy, a young high school student who aims to be the world's best tattoo artist. Yanauchi launched the manga in Young King in 2003, and Shonengahosha published the 27th compiled book volume in August 2013. Yanauchi put the manga on hiatus in October 2013. The manga has over 10 million copies in print.
A live-action film adaptation of Yanauchi's Gaki Rock manga opened in Japan in June 2014.
