Font Boys Reimagines Japanese Typefaces as Bishōnen

What's the next inanimate object or concept to join the personification craze in Japan? Fonts. Yes, various Japanese typographical fonts are transforming into attractive young men to appear in a new Font Danshi! (Font Boys) project.
In the story, second-year high school student Antique AN returns to a town he previously lived in for the first time in several years. He transfers into Morisawa Academy and reunites with his best friend Futago B101. Antique AN's friendly yet imposing homeroom teacher is Seikaisho CB1. Ryūmin is the serious class president who is at odds with Gothic typeface.
Sadly, English speakers won't get to see the likes of Times New Roman, Comic Sans, Arial, or helvetica as bishōnen. The Japanese language uses different fonts. The project is a collaboration with typesetting software and digital font maker Morisawa to reimagine the company's fonts as male characters that interact in a high school.
Virginia Nitōhei (Otherwordly Izakaya "Nobu") is writing a manga for the project that launched on Kadokawa's Young Ace Up manga website on Tuesday. The second chapter of the manga will debut on May 22.
