Japanese Art Site pixiv Adds Voice-Over App for Aspiring Seiyū

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Japanese art website pixiv allows amateur and professional users alike to create an account and share their artistry with the world. The site is expanding beyond visual art and is offering a voice-recording option. The feature will allow aspiring voice actors to collaborate with artists to create VOMIC-like works, or artists can dub over their own art.

pixiv released its Pixvoice app for iPhones and plans to release a version for Android devices soon. Artists seeking an actor to voice their work can include the tag ピクボイス (Pixvoice) to add it to the app's directory. Voice actors can then find the work and submit their dub. The app can also be used to directly voice over your own work.

The pixiv website launched in 2007 and boasts over five million users. The site launched an English-language encyclopedia and Twitter account in 2011.
