Well if it's no additional cost, at least it should be interesting to see what they put out and give it a try

I just want Netflix to simulcast their anime and be more consistent about releasing shows on home video.

]The joke is... they actually doing that, but in Japan only. Yes, it's a pretty weird take, but it's how it goes.

And Taiwan as well, with the Taiwanese Audio usually available on the day.
On the original subject; anyone else think that Netflix will get greedy and make you have to buy a “Specialized Netflix Exclusive Controller” like Google Stadia did, or do you think they will wise-up and allow you to play Netflix Games with any Bluetooth/USB controller you may already happen to own?
It would be extremely neat if one would be able to play “Valhalla” and future Assassin’s Creed (and Elder Scrolls) games with just a Netflix subscription and a controller.

Woah, neat. Bandersnatch is the whole reason I subscribed to Netflix in the first place, and I've had an active subscription ever since. More interactive content along those lines would be amazing, but I'm (cautiously) looking forward to seeing where this goes.
But...

Are we sure they hired a real former EA high heid yin?

I'd take the "At No Extra Cost" language with a grain of salt. Given how their subscription growth has slowed according to their last two reports, and the huge sums they continue to shovel out the door in pursuit of exclusive content, it's been reported they've been feeling investor pressure to do something to either reinvigorate subscription growth, or to just raise prices, though the latter is a problem w/ the competition of other services like HBOMax and Disney+. In any case I foresee four scenarios.
Scenario A, they have a hard time signing the deals necessary to land big titles going forward due to their cash being tied up in other parts of the business, so their library of games remains small and/or niche. Having a bunch of F2P games is pointless for them, as they are free and therefore all you'd be doing is acting as a second App Store/Google Play Store.
Scenario B, they cut back spending on their main business of movies and TV (and anime) to finance this game library idea, risking losing business on that end. So fewer exclusives, fewer of their own productions, which is likely why they had the revenue beat this time around.
Scenario C, they spin off the game subscription part in a year or so down the line and treat it as an entirely separate business stream, maybe offer some sort of package deal where you get a discount if you get both together. $15 for classic, $5 for game, and $18 for both, or something like that.
Scenario D, they end up hiking subscription costs for everyone, billing it as something unrelated to the gaming project. As I mentioned earlier, they've had some pressure to do this, but given the price points of the competition, they probably can't really do that right now.
I feel like this discussion came up somewhere else recently, but as any high school econ class will tell you, TINSTAFL; "free" does not exist. Someone has to pay the costs. Their hope is likely that this plan will draw in enough fresh subscriptions to offset the licensing costs and all else related to developing and maintaining this game service. It is very difficult to see how you do that without hitting a wall where your costs will grow faster than your revenue pretty soon. If they're ok losing money on this project and letting the main business carry them, okay, but I don't see them (or their investors) letting that go for more than a couple quarters. They'll likely be pushed into some price adjustment, be it making the gaming subscription a separate cost, or packing it into across the board price increases.

Actually, just one month ago the standard rate for Netflix was raised on a "revision" to 1,490JPY per month, so yeah, I can see that it's not "free" but the costs are probably getting tied in already.
Hope we get to see a decent library, but then again it's mobile, so I don't have high hopes.
If there's some rhythm games like Arcaea included I'll be pleasantly surprised.
