Hopefully the staff doesn't have it.

I also hope losing an episode doesn't hurt the series. Maybe there was a slice of life episode they can take out and sell separately as an OVA or something.

With the season already planned for 25 episodes, they have a bit more flexibility.

Sadly, I expect that we haven't seen the last of this kind of problem.

Another reminder that these kinds of outbreaks impact the livelihoods of more than just the people who are becoming ill. Even if no one at the studio is ill, if they have outsourced something crucial to a region of the world that is now facing restrictions, then everything at work grinds to a halt.

The amount of manga they're planning to cover is pretty substantial though.

I'm afraid you're probably right on that last part.

TV slots are not web streaming, my friend

I wished they could be more creative with these things and air like an old OVA or something, but that's probably also not feasible.

but what does china´ s coronavirus have to do with japanese anime, hmmm~?

surely you are not outsourcing to china, because you dont even want to pay the shamefully low wages of animators in japan, riight~?
after all, anime is supposed to be the pride of japan, not china.
I wonder what japanese otaku´s take on this would be..

No comment probably, the corona terror in Japan is pretty real now they get some victims, and anime outsourcing to China, Korean, South East Asian country are common knowledge anyway (it's on the end credits), there aren't enough animators even if you pay the animators in gold bricks.

Yup exactly with the high amount of demand of more and more anime jpn alone simply cant handle it and also as you said the payments for the work they do arent the best so i doubt there is a huge line behind their doors waiting to get hired....

Actually 70% of the people who make anime are not Japanese: Koreans, Philippinos, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and other Asian countries with cheaper labor than Japan are used. By the way, American shows like The Simpsons are also outsourced from the same places so it is completely possible that some of the in-between animation of Railgun is done by the same person that does Family Guy's. Wink
