Youtube's autotranslate is laughable at best. Occasionally you get a readable line but mosdt time you get random gobbledgook and other oddities that come off leaving you like giggling and frustrated.

Character names often are the worst especially for JPN stuff. Just 1 minute into this love hina video and its not understandable.

I watch the puzzle dragon episodes on their channel raw and tried the auto subs once and turned them off since I was better off just understanding from context and the simple words more than trying to parse what autosubs was trying to say.

For subbed anime, in those 24-72 frames (1-3 seconds), an eye can glance at the subtitles and read them without missing too much of the action happening on the screen. I'm afraid trying to match the subtitles in manga running at the same speed as anime doesn't work as well because the eye has to spend more effort locating the panel that corresponds to the subtitle. Even if the subtitles were more artfully translated, the inability to quickly glance back and forth between subtitle and panel compared to anime makes the experience seem more like a chore than entertainment.
