Dropping like flies. Hope she's being compensated.

I still don't really understand their decisions to recast the roles. Having new characters take Lisa's and Rinka's spots in Roselia would have made more sense, I would think... I don't really think fans are attached to the characters so much as they are attached to the musicians/va's behind them.

Bands change members a lot. An anime/game franchise about bands shouldn't really have a problem with members changing. Oh well.

I'm pretty sure the fans are just as attached to the characters than they are to the actual VAs. They might even be more attached to the characters. Lisa and Rinko are pretty important to Roselia's story, especially Lisa since she's Yukina's best friend. When the fan's of Bang Dream think of Roselia, I believe they think of Yukina, Lisa, Rinko, Sayo and Ako. Replace one of those members and it's not Roselia anymore. Plus, have you seen all the shippings being made for this franchise? In story, the members found that extra something when playing with those specific characters, replacing one of the characters changes that.

It's like the same situation for Love Live. Do you think it'd be ok if you just replaced one of the members for Muse or Aqours? If anything, you're better off making an entirely new group.

When I think of Lisa, I think of Yurika Endo rocking out on bass. Yuki Nakashima doesn't do anything for me at all in the clips and performances I've seen of her. To me, the character isn't "Lisa" anymore, and it just feels cheesy for them to play it off that way.

Plenty of Star Wars fans are attached to the characters, way more so than Bang Dream fans - should they recast Princess Leia? I bet that'd go over about as well as the recasting of Han Solo... Smile

Going to your Love Live question - are you saying it'd be fine if they replaced Yoshino Nanjo as Eli with someone else, or Aika Kobayashi as Yoshiko? I'm pretty confident in thinking that wouldn't be met enthusiastically... anime fans are a notoriously seiyu-centric lot.

I never said it'd be fine to replace the seiyuu. I was going through the reasoning in recasting the seiyuu instead. I know what you're getting at though, if let's say Sinon was voiced by anyone other than Miyuki Sawashiro it'd be weird for me as I associate Sinon with her voice now.

Comparing live action acting to voice acting is a bit much though. When you watch Star Wars you saw Carrie Fisher acting as Princess Leia. You had her face to put on the character. With things like anime, you have more leeway. When Miyu Matsuki sadly passed away she was supposed to voice Lailah in Tales of Zestiria the X. She originally voiced her in the Tales of Zestiria game. Should they have replaced her character completely?

Another one, Risa Taneda used to voice Mashu Kyrielight in Fate/Grand Order. I associated her voice for awhile with Mashu as I'm sure others have as well. She had to take a hiatus and was replaced by Rie Takahashi. Should they have replaced Mashu as a character too?

For Rinko and Lisa fans immediately think of the character's drawn face and the voice of the character. These are two main characters in a franchise that has a mobile game, you can't just remove them. I'm not discounting your opinion that the performer makes the character, but in this case the show has to go on.

They just announced two new anime seasons and the mobile game is out in North America. Do you honestly think it'd be a good idea to remove characters that people are fans of?

No it would not be fine replacing Kobayashi as Yoshiko or Nanjo as Eli. It also wouldn't be good to completely replace those characters either. Can you imagine Muse without Eli or Aqours without Yohane? The Love Live Sunshine movie was just announced, how would you feel if they replaced Yohane with someone else in the film. I think both backlashes would be huge.

It’s not ages 13-20, it’s 13-29 (original was written like 13-20s, different kanji)
