season 2?
this series is based on the novel right not the manga.. The manga is actually behind the anime when i checked it the last time |

I don't know where the manga is in the story, but for the most part, the anime followed the novels quite closely, and it adapted the first nine. However, only four more have been released beyond that, and they're in the middle of a story arc that spans multiple books and looks like it's probably leading up to the climax of the series. So, there really isn't enough material for them to do another season at this point, and it'll be a while before they have enough material to make another season. I expect that they'll wait for the series to be completed first (particularly if the current arc really is leading up to the climax of the series), but obviously, we'll have to wait and see. I don't know if the first season did well enough for them to be willing to make another one, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they didn't release another one simply because it took too long for there to be enough material for them to adapt into a second season. I certainly hope that they eventually adapt the full series, but unfortunately, it seems to be more common than not that a light novel series or manga does not get fully adapted when they make an anime. Fortunately, even though the light novels have not been licensed, there are fan translations in English of the ones released thus far, so I expect that we'll be able to get the whole story in English, even if we're unlucky, and they don't ever make a second season. Hopefully, they will make one though. |

actually from what i saw in the light novel and manga listings volumes 1-9 which covers the shaman clan arc and ends in the to the darksky arc was used in the 24 ep anime series.
i can easily see volumes 10-13 cover season 2. especially if vol 13 "COUNT>DOWN" arc is the final volume of the light novel series. though they could have used the EX light novel archs , party in nest and seasons in nest as OVAs. hopefully the manga gets released in the US cause from the looks of things, the anime version will end up the same way as kekaishi where you'll need to read the original source materials to continue with the story. |

Volume 13 is most definitely not the end of an arc. It's smack dab in the middle of one. Volume 10 is more or less a story unto itself, though it introduces some new characters who are in later books, and it shows some of the state of things after the time skip. 11 moves the story forward a bit but mostly just covers what the characters who weren't in volume 10 have been up to over the course of the time skip. 12 and 13 are then part of an arc that's going to go on for who knows how long. It could be finished with the next book, I suppose, but I doubt it given how much is going on. It does look like that arc is leading up to the climax though. If I had to guess, I'd say that the current arc will be two more books, but who knows. It's hard to gauge how much they're going to be able to cover in a light novel, especially when you don't know for sure what's coming. Regardless, when you consider that the first season effectively adapted 8 books in 24 episodes (about half of volumes 4 and 5 were side stories which weren't adapted), 4 books is only going to give you about 12 episodes, and the next book will only bump it up to about 15. So, if volume 14 were actually the end of the arc (or even the end of the series), then I guess that they could try and squeeze it into a single 13 episode season, but if volume 14 doesn't end the current arc, then that definitely won't work, and they have nowhere near enough for 24 episodes. I don't know what's in the Volume EX side stories, but the images that go with them clearly show that they're before the end of the first season, so they're unlikely to get any more material from those for a second season. So, they really don't have the material they need to adapt another 24 episode season - not without a bunch of filler anyway - and since the current arc seems to be leading up to the climax of the series, there's a decent chance that there aren't very many books left. So, unless the series goes on for a lot longer than it seems like it's likely to, I'd be very surprised if they made another season before the light novels were completed, and to have the same amount of material available as they adapted in the first season, they need four more books, which at the current rate of publication, means anywhere from a year and a half to two years from now. So, I expect that we have a bit of a wait ahead of us for a second season, even if we are lucky enough to get one.
Unfortunately, that's pretty common with anime.

The manga versions have actually more collective volumes than the LN. As far as there being another, even if there isn't, 24 episodes technically equates to 2 cour and that is something considering a lot of LN-based shows only get 12-13 TV eps.
