There's only Yaoi and BL on the Kindle right now... Why can't Viz and TokyoPop and Yen Press jump on the digital bandwagon? Then again, they may know that people like me are going to stick to collecting manga for their collections lol

Well, it is material some girls might not be comfortable with buying in store- I'm guessing that's also why Digital Manga's still doing okay with their Emanga site [which has also revived Harlequinn Manga]. That and Yaoi is a profitable niche [maybe because it's targeted at adults?]. I mean, what other manga fans would pay 5-8 bucks with no qualms for a digital edition? I know I wouldn't, but the fujoshi I know would probably do so if they had a kindle [some probably might]. Yaoi fans are pretty hardcore readers.
Also, they're dealing with smaller companies, or directly with artists, so that might make getting rights easier than at a behemoth like Shuiesha. Icarus has been publishing a digital version of their anthology for awhile now- Simon Jones did a blog post testing out his comics on some devices, and I imagine he'll give it a go it permitted once the quality's right. Adult titles are apparently where experimention is more likely to take place. Don't read em myself, but apprecaite that the publishers, customers and artists involved are testing stuff out for everyonelse. |

Personally, I don't have room for anymore manga volumes so I'd rather buy and read e-versions of most, and only buy print copies of those I love best. I really need to be picky with my storage space down to nothing.
I hope Libre decides to do this with other properties. There's a lot they publish that aren't licensed that I want to read. |

I hope, if nothing else, that this is a sign more Broccoli titles will begin to resurface under different licensers in the very near future. *crosses fingers*

Because Shoujo & Shounen readers can't afford the Kindle - yet.
