It's nice to see they're keeping staff familiar with the anime version to help with series solicitation.

I honestly still think that it was a pile of ridiculous bullshit that after all the fighting and struggling 4kids put into keeping the licensing rights to the yu-gi-oh franchise they up and get rid of the licensing rights anyway

Pretty sure the bankruptcy judge made 'em do it. After all, if eight million isn't enough to stave off drastic measures, you're pretty deep in the hole for a company that size.

I for one think this is the best move Konami could've made.

In taking over 4Kids' location and keep on some of the staff, it seems they will effectively continue on with the anime dubbing/distribution with no kinks. Which I believe is the best move. The last thing the already fragile, mainstream status YGO has I don't think they will have to worry about losing too much in terms of ratings, etc. And, if they can make a substantial deal with the toy lines, it will just further boost the status and popularity of the anime.

And, being a fan of the American Cartoon that is Yu-Gi-Oh!, I am happy that they will continue on with the Zexal dub, and hopefully subsequent series as well!

Yeah, pretty much. So much for a proper dub/release coming out of this.

Toy deal, huh? Somehow I don't think they'll be bringing over the awesome Japanese figures given the amount of censorship they did to the cards and anime alone. Gotta keep that franchise pure and kiddy in the states.

Does this mean they'll be making Duel Disks again?

Oh Please let this be the case.

Duel Disks are awesome...Although perhaps a 20 year old male walking around with a duel disk strapped to his arm isn't exactly the most socially acceptable thing. Neutral

He's essentially saying, because 4kids did Yugioh, its not on the same level as the original, and he's right

...Its better Cool

And lets be real with ourselves here, as awesome as the original was (5Ds is definetly runner up) it's all about the cards and the card battles, I'm willing to give up Yugi getting socked in the face, F.I.N.A.L instead of D.E.A.T.H, and so on if it means the overall "feel" is better paced and more epic, which it was.

At least it seems that Konami will keep the voice actors in New York, which is fantastic unlike Pokemon USA which was a real detriment to the Pokemon anime imo

That doesn't really make much sense to me. The dub always felt the opposite of 'epic' because of how toned down and childish it was compared to the original and toned everything down to make the bad guys no more threatening than a villain in a Scooby Doo episode.

It's a shame you feel that way. I value actual character development and story development in shows and didn't like it when they edited all those scenes out. Even if you value the card aspect of it more, even that makes little sense given how much of it is toned down from the original.

Even though the show stopped being good around Battle City, it's still gonna be interesting what happens to the stateside status of this series...

...and I doubt a damn thing will change. This is essentially the same people working on it... just under different management. It's, contrary to popular belief, pretty much the exact same situation that happened to Pokemon (only hopefully, they won't switch to a cheaper recording studio to do the dialogue).

You're the first person I've ever seen prefer Duelist Kingdom to Battle City and beyond.

Well, truth be told, Battle City and beyond is where I lost interest in the series as well. spoiler[You can blame the dub version for that too, Titan, if you like Wink ]

Well, having understood the harsh moments that 4Kids has been through over the years, I think this is great for both 4Kids and the dedicated fans of Yu-Gi-Oh. Smile

Well they did make the villain sound like The Monarch in the dub when he's suppose to be a girly bishie so that makes sense I suppose
