Honestly, the only part of Shii getting a Cub that I had any interest into (since we knew she'd get one eventually) is that it's called a Little Cub. (but thanks for the link nonetheless)
Hobby manga poking fun at the hobby itself has become such a staple that it often feels cheap and insincere. But this show is a reminder that the opposite - glorifying the hobby at every possible turn - is much worse.
In the end Super Cub was a very good anime in spite of being centered on a brand, rather than thanks to it.

I will try to remember that this is not a motorcycle forum (which is 90% of my Internet commenting).

Not a hobby for some of us - I ride 10,000+ miles per year on trips that would otherwise be made in a car.

Can the 110 million plus people who have bought a new Super Cub since 1958 (so many more in total when used sales are included) be wrong? The Super Cub is testimony of the genius and daring* of Soichiro Honda (no relation to Tohru Honda).
*So much money was spent on the new Suzuka factory that if the Super Cub had not been a sales success, Honda Motor Company, Ltd. would have gone to the wall.

I was gonna say "this is the weirdest cult" but really every religion is weird, so why not a moped brand.

A Super Cub is an underbone motorcycle, not a scooter.
Kawasaki has sold scooters, but they are rebranded KYMCO models.

Call it hobby, call it otaku subject or call it something else. Just whatever thing the author likes. The series constantly praised Cubs as some kind of divine intervention that enabled otherwise imposible feats and the series was no better for it.

I found these mentions humorous rather than annoying since the design brief of the Super Cub was to get a person from Point A to Point B for the least possible operating cost and required maintenance from a motor vehicle. Purely utilitarian, with little to no consideration given to the features people want but do not need in more expensive motorcycles. A USA movie from 1940 praising the Ford Model T or a German movie from 1970 praising the VW Type I (aka Beetle) would be similarly funny.

So question, how do Japanese motorcycle stores make their money?
Including Koguma's cursed bike deal,Shii said it was marked down and the shy nervous girl still managed to get them to lower the price more when she would of been overly enthusiastic in the dealership lot.

It's much more than 100 million if you consider the "sister" models, like the Hunter Trail. Actually, if I went to buy one of those motos I would end buying the HT instead because I would frequently drive offroad.

Our Esteemed Reviewer called the last episode “travel porn”. For me, it was ‘scenery porn’. In fact, the whole series was full of great scenery and superb music; ep 12 just took that to the max. What a great anime!

Generally by selling popular models at a reasonable mark-up, and selling less popular leftover bikes (i.e., new original stock) with manufacturer's rebate. If neither of those work, they will dump a bike at a loss, since most dealers borrow the money from a bank to buy their inventory, and at some point it is best to cut losses.
And of course, the real world is not always perfectly represented in anime.
