1) On burden of proof for those taking part in debate:
In a non-legal sense, the person who first claims something is or isn't true has the burden of proof. Claiming something is true or false, and then claiming the respondant has the burden of proof is an "argument from ignorance". In actuality, neither person/party is free from the burden to prove their point, though. In short, if we're going to claim anything, regardless of who has the "burden of proof", it simply benefits the discussion for everyone to provide evidence, so let's not play burden tennis... 2) On the debate itself: I speak solely for myself, but the only reason I can believe that people's fictional preferences don't necessarily relate to their real preferences is because it applies directly to me. I won't mention specifics, but while I'm no lolicon, I like other heavily-criticized erotic content in my erotic doujinshi and art. I have real erotic preferences, too, but they're quite different from my fictional ones. That's what it boils down to for me. Otherwise, I honestly don't see a lot of evidence suggesting anything about sexual preference between 2D and reality either way. 3) On the magazine: I always thought the cover art looked nice. If it's just about a slight increase in price, then I don't see a big issue, but if it's about canceling the magazine, I feel like this will be a huge talking about in the following weeks in the Japanese otaku community. The implications a cancellation of the magazine could have on the adult industry is pretty significant. |

He/she never said that the lolicon drawings are real life children. Child pornography can feature either real children or fiction children. But that does nothing to change what kind of porn it is: porn that features sexualized children. It would be best if you not try to deny the obvious.
Whether drawn child pornography is harmful or not is very debatable. There are things in life that are not blatantly harmful, but are nevertheless things that should not be seen as honorable or praiseworthy. Regardless, I find it fascinating that people so passionately defend material like this. We are all accountable for the media we consume and the resulting behavior it might invoke from us. This is especially so with sexual media, which tends to stir up intense, emotionally saturated longings and desires within people. Longings and desires that may not be so easy to reign in should the target of desire be a little too vulnerable and available. With that in mind, there would nothing remotely unreasonable in people being wary of someone who is into lolicon and/or shotacon. |

Yes. I removed a post, along with three replies. Opinions on the magazine are one thing, but insinuations about the people posting here are unacceptable.

I may offend some people for saying this. I like Comic LO and the stories, regardless of the highly questionable content, are good. I have not read much of its stuff in recent years. However, I hope that it is not implying that it will cease publication soon. I also like Takamichi's beautiful cover art. Thanks for the great info about him, Blanchimont. I never knew much about him other than his Comic LO covers until now. |

Lolita hentai manga is pretty much on the razor's edge between constitutionally-protected expression and obscenity, but since no real children are harmed, the market should decide whether it should exist, not the government.

For people connecting this to crimes, look at Japan's actual crimerates. They're one of the best countries in the world when it comes to sexual crimes.
I myself am not a fan of this genre. But those crimerates don't lie. People poke at Japan that all its crazy porn would lead to an orgy of sexual crimes, but has a fraction of the sexual crimes as some more puritanical countries and some of the patriarchal ones. Drawings that harm no one shouldn't be chased down. |

I'll be watching this very closely as an active free speech activist who strongly supports the manga/anime artform.

People still buy/subscribe to monthly Comic LO???
The artist Anthologies that’s also sold by Akaneshinsha is where its at! The anthologies are less “censored” (no mosaic, just small black bars that’s a wee bit transparent) than the ones appear on the monthly print and digital version. The anthologoes are worth the wait |

Good news, it has been confirmed that the magazine isn't going anywhere, and as some predicted it is indeed a price increase to 815 yen effective next issue.

As the magazine is still publishing today, did we ever find out what the announcement was about?
I wish more H-mag would use tasteful non-H covers like LO. It's classy. |
