Good, let it end. Doesn't matter how saccharine the cover art is if what's inside is predatory. That almost makes it even worse, actually. It's like they're trying to associate what's inside the magazine with drawings of "real life", in a way. And associating porn with real life is something that should never be done.

Well, shit, this announcement of an announcement has scared so much the people on the Japanese and Chinese otaku community that even found his way here on Anime News Network, not a common sight by the way. To explain what I think about this whole situation I will copy & paste the comment I made on ExHentai:
As an addendum to my quoted comment I want to say that Akaneshinsha has stopped the publication of five magazines on the last two years and they are: Comic Tenma, Comic Sigma, Juicy, Kanjuku Monogatari and Comic Saseco. Right now Akaneshinsha is publishing only five magazines, Comic Koh and Comic LO, both are monthly and independent magazines, Towako and Girls for M, both are published semiannually as special editions of the Comic LO and Koushoku Shounen, published semiannually as a special edition of Comic Koh. So Akaneshinsha have no qualms to stop the publication of whatever magazine, being the most iconic killed magazine the Comic Tenma, the mother of Tenma Comics, their current adult label, but like I explained before in my quote comment this looks like they are only adjusting the price of the magazine, maybe they are trying to balance their finances, that could explain all the killed magazines and the rise of the price of the Comic LO. Sorry for the long ass comment, but I am a big fan of Takamichi, Comic LO and Akaneshinsha. |

Totally agree ... This mindset became more and more problematic recently, every single fan i met during convention and such couldn't care less about their fetish in real life, simply because 2D ISN'T real, If 2D things were so dangerous we would be long since killed by the hundreds of millions of players of realistics mass killing game such as FPS , remind me the recent topic " Why Are People More Upset By Nudity Than Violence?" Thank you @principeinquisidor for the explanations. |

LO has always explicitly run ads & notices that its content are fantasy and that no one should ever touch or harm an actual child, stop talking out of ignorance. If anything, I wish more purveyors of pornography made a point of drawing a clear line between their fictional works and actual acceptable relationship behavior. |

Hopefully that's NOT the case. Comic LO is what apparently is maintaining lots of real life lolicons in check with 2D anime lolis for treatment (in fact, the magazine's motto is all about that). I would hate to see they going for real ones if the magazine were to stop publishing as some kind of sick twist to this tale, especially if it would be some sort of protest, as no matter what punishment they may get, it will be too late for the kids. As long as they are doing no harm to anyone, it's fine. These are just drawings anyway. It's pretty ironic though, because people in the UK and in the US loves to poke Japan about this (even about non-hentai, like ecchi manga), and yet, they have a far bigger numbers than the country which apparently propagates so much the content. People sometimes link articles about child abuse (mostly non-sexual, which in Japan is a far bigger problem, for bullying issues and such) and use the argument that many of the cases aren't reported, but that goes both ways for every country, and anything otherwise are non-concrete rumors. Just last year, Japan had like 30000 cases of child abuse, of which only 97 were reported as sexual abuse, just to show some numbers. The US, and particularly the UK, who was directly attacking Japan in that front little time ago because of manga? Last year for the UK (Japan has the double of the population, in case anyone is wondering, btw), 6129 offenses in the same period of time. As for the US, the numbers were above 63.000 reported cases in 2010 and, if this source is to be as reliable as the last one, about 40.400 cases in 2015 (not sure about the situation in 2017, but it could be just as bad), the US having 3 times the population of Japan, for the sake of comparison. It's funny how the numbers in Japan are so low and decreased so much compared to what they were before 2013 (http://www.fmu.ac.jp/home/public_h/ebm/materials/images/5.Terui_Recent%20trend%20of%20child%20sexual%20abuse%20handout.pdf), with less than 1000 reported cases around that time. Even if you count the Act on the Protection of Specially Designated Secrets as being possible risk for this kind of sensible information propagation, the numbers already were far lower than the numbers we got in each country in that same period of time as well. The numbers of child pornography cases (production, distribution and possession) are far bigger than the number of actual cases, and many of those are pretty much self inflicted by posting nudes on the internet. In any case, it's great that this is only a rise on the price. Last edited by danpmss on Sat Apr 21, 2018 4:33 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I don't think that Comic LO will shut down immediately because it contains mostly on child pornography. But the thing is being a lolicon is not the same as a pedophiles as what other people think! I'd found this blog from a *ahem* adult website, doujins.com that foretells about the difference between a lolicon & a pedophile: https://doujins.com/blog/hentai-facts-about-lolicon-238. In fact, Comic LO doesn't contributes pedophilia on their monthly magazine as what I'd shown you the link & they even have an infomercial regarding on the problems of a lolicon person & it can be cured through a psychological help. |

They should be focusing their effort on real child porn; not drawings. |

As I recall, there's been a lot of pressure on Japan to crack down on these kinds of publications in the runup to the 2020 Olympics. If that's what this announcement is about, I'm surprised it's happening so early, but that's the only thing about it that surprises me.

I speak only from my own opinions, formed on my own. I hardly know what virtue signaling is. I don't have any real want to argue either, so I'm just gonna leave it there. |

I never going to understand people that get upset with drawings, particularly other anime fans, because if we use their logic against them it turns out most of their hentai and waifus are underage too.
Any kind of thought policing is extremely wrong, I don't know if you realize it, but the people that consumes or creates this kind of thing is not doing any damage or bothering anyone, the people that get angry with this are intentionally doing it because it's not something that would affect you in any way, it's like going into a furry convention and getting upset because of furrys. But, you know who is causing damage? the people that thinks it's right to criminalize someone else thoughts, even when there are proof that it's harmless, even when the majority of the community insists they are not interested in the real thing at all since the beginning of internet. How much of a cynical mother fucker you have to be to seriously stand in front of a completely innocent otaku in any possible aspect and say "YOU DESERVE TO BE IN JAIL WITH CHILD RAPISTS, MURDERERS,ETC BECAUSE I THINK YOUR DRAWINGS ARE DISGUSTING" Sorry, but from my point of view and anyone that slightly respects freedom you are the criminal here. |
