Haha, that's a little hyperbolic. To quote Walter Sobchak, "nothing is fu*ked, dude." The original Japanese version will still exist. You don't have to watch the dub if you don't like it.

Monica Rial's range isn't just high pitched, as she did play Dante in Fullmetal Alchemist (2003). I'm sure she'l be fine for this role. I'm pretty sureshe can do over-the-top, wasn't Panty and Stocking over the top? She's in that.

Monica Rial is a very safe casting choice by Jeremy but a logical one. While there are other actresses who could certainly play the role decently enough its doubtful that they would be able to bring the house down like Monica could likely do if the voice direction is on point. A vast majority of Funimation's casting for recent broadcast dubs have been rather uninspired and all tend to blend together of late but hopefully a title will come along soon that will shake the boring status quo of the usual casting habits we shall see.

Really? This is the first name I thought of. She has a Knack for playing characters like this.

I could see that but Luci Christian is nearly Sentai-centric at this point and does almost no starring roles for Funi anymore outside of Nami in One Piece. Uraraka was the first starring role she got for the company outside of OP in years to my recollection. |
She also had a major role in Daimidaler which came out about a year ago, though she used an alias for that series.

Monica might have been picked in part because of a connection to her seiyuu: both played the for "Dance in the Vampire " and "Seraph of the End".

She's overused, just like Christopher Sabat who plays every muscle-man character funimation dubs and Bryce Papenbrook who plays the main character in the majority of popular shows they dub, give some other actors the chance to shine.
