(I expected this question to have come up before, but the closest I could find was a discussion on adding manhwa)
Leaving aside the complex and charged debate on when to call something anime or not, what about adding Chinese, Korean, or other East-Asian animation to the Encyclopedia and site? Is there an official ANN policy on this somewhere? Both AniDB and MAL accept Chinese and Korean animation in their databases. I'd like to see ANN do the same so I don't have to switch sites whenever I watch or need info on something from China or Korea. |

It is covered here in the FAQ thread: animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2361292#2361292

So, I can submit Chinese and Korean animation for the Encyclopedia and have them accepted? That's good news
ETA: Oh, oops. I just went to submit 巴啦啦小魔仙之彩虹心石 (Bālālā Xiǎo Móxiān Zhī Cǎihóng Xīn Shí), but there's no Language: Chinese option How should I enter it on the Add Information page? |

Non-Japanese animation and comics are added only when they have been covered (not just briefly mentioned) by reviews, site news, and/or sufficiently related to Japanese anime/manga.
