I really don't understand how this can be a licensing issue.
Atlus US is owned by Atlus who made the game. This is not a case of Xseed localizing a game developed by someone else. Its basically like saying a company can't put out the product it created. |

Don't forget, the voice actors in P5 likely have contracts, ties and the like with companies in Japan who may not be interested in their actors' work being taken overseas. It's not a matter of Atlus owning all the rights to their name and performances and just deciding "nah". It's nowhere near as clear-cut. |

still waiting on the entire English cast to be unveiled before making a decision on importing. Morgana's voice is a good start

While I would prefer that it came with Japanese audio as well I will still be buying it. It just sucks that it isn't an option. I know all of people in these comments don't mind that we don't have Japanese audio but I think people have the right to complain.

I'd argue that games like Gal Gun or Akiba's Trip shouldn't be censored because literally the only people buying those games are that niche audience of people who are okay with panty shots and weird Japanese stuff. But if you see potential to reach out to a bigger audience and the changes necessary don't hurt the game then I say go for it. Now that being said, I sincerely doubt there's going to be any censorship in Persona 5. It's paranoia plain and simple. In fact this situation reminds me about the whole Funimation Prison School incident. On one hand you've got people who know nothing about Funimation and their extensive library of uncensored shows that border on pornography calling them censorship loving 'Social Justice Warriors', on the other hand you've got people who know nothing about Persona who think the lack of a Japanese audio track means it's going to be censored to hell. |

Definitely not. Atlus USA just doesn't value giving fans what they want, so they don't. This is definitely not a licensing issue. That being said Atlus you just want me to buy this at a discount don't you? |

Can't say I've ever seen a product that was improved through censorship. And I have to imagine the only people who do are the kind of people who didn't care much for the original product in the first place - i.e gag dubs.
It's also funny considering #Fe is entirely in Japanese with no English dub. The thing is I doubt any company would just come right out and say they're being cheap and dont want to pay royalties. And for the most part selling a game without an English dub is looked down upon. Maybe in #Fe they used the money for a dub for licensing fees because it was cheaper. They can say it's to keep the cultural Integrity intact, but considering the massive amounts of censorship and changes going on that's pretty blatantly false. It's especially weird if the rumours of them re dubbing Japanese lines to fit their censorship is true, which is just more money being spent. People can call other people conspiracy theorist all they want, but it's also pretty naive to think that a business is going to be 100% truthful with you all the time. I have worked at companies enough to be on the other side of the BS, though it's generally called PR. Being cheap and not wanting to pay more money is still technically a 'licensing issue', for example. -Stuart Smith |

Well, for example, Bravely Default swapped out a stupid skimpy optional bikini costume for a (somewhat) less stupid, less skimpy alternative, and did similar cleanup to a couple of job outfits for the female characters. The original versions were tasteless, tonally inappropriate, and frankly bizarre given the character models' chibi proportions. In this regard, the US version is simply a better product. Likewise, although the localization of Fire Emblem: Fates has a whole bunch of other issues, I think it's pretty hard to argue that removing the idiotic and pandering face-petting minigame was anything but an enormous improvement to the product as a whole. If something's garbage in the original version, removing it or altering it in the localization makes the localized version better than it would be if the content had been left unchanged. |

Uhh, I think i'll wait to see the english dub before making any serious decisions, but i'll probably wait and hope it'll be released on steam later on. I shouldn't be surprised by the lack of japanese audio, since it's a common thing for Atlus US, but well, i'm still dissapointed, since the cast is top notch.

I'm not into the Persona series in any way, but lack of Japanese audio in a Japanese RPG, especially considering a Bluray disc can more than easily support multiple audio tracks is definitely a deal breaker and inexcusable in my opinion. I don't know why this always seems to be an issue for this series, but either the US company is being stingy which needs to stop, or the Japanese need to lighten up and be more willing to work with foreign companies for the better. This isn't 20 years ago with the CD format, where the format wasn't capable of supporting more than one audio track.

There's your problem right there. The "Persona" games are very long. On your first time, it would take you at least a month to finish one, and that's if you have free time on your hands. So, I think it wouldn't be too hard to believe there was a lack of disc space. |
