Would I buy a sub only Seitokei Yakuindomo? Probably not but I'd like to find out.

As for a license rescue, I feel like an idiot for saying this but Record of Lodoss War.

I feel like I'm forgetting a show from the mid 2000s. Oh yeah, When They Cry/Higurashi. I completely missed getting Funi's box set when it wasn't "selling" and it quickly sold out. Funimation's still selling the download version so... I guess a DVD's out of the question? Strange situation.

Nichijou? Anyone but Rightstuf. Do I have to spell out the particular reasons or can I just say it'd be like Media Blasters snagging Haruhi or K-On?

I knew I forgot one.
A dub would have its own problems though. Many parts would have to be largely rewritten to shoehorn in English dirty jokes.

I think I would actually prefer an exhaustive sub, with notes, maybe even alternate scripts. It's been my experience with the show that different translations have different peaks and valleys. One might deliver a certain joke expertly and completely miss another. Just consider the variations on the Christmas episode where Tsuda remembers Kotomi asking him "What is Santa like?" but he mishears it as something like "What is Santa's semen like?" The translation that resorted to adding a translation note to that joke was the only one that got me to laugh. The ones that tried to make some sense of it in English completely failed at it.

My top 2 are Hyouka and Polar Bear Cafe.

Polar Bear Cafe is long and niche so I understand why no one has picked it up but it's just so wonderful.

To this dayI don't understand Why Hyouka was not picked it up. Although it really needs a BR release.

Topping my list were, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Kemonozume, REC, Real Drive, and Hyoka. Plus I also recommended some stuff for their adult label like Stringendo, Stretta, and Sora no Iro, Mizu no Iro.

Has anyone announced a (current) license for Nichijou, yet? Absolutely criminal that that hasn't had a release.
Given how it was yanked from Crunchyroll, I suspect Funimation has the rights, or at least has them optioned, but they don't seem to be interested in doing anything with them.

@Kruszer
Glad I'm not the only one to put old shows on my list! Legend of the Galactic Heroes topped mine too! I also put Armored Trooper VOTOMs rescue (+spinoffs would be great) and Fang of the Sun Dougram. I like me some 80s mecha. And space opera.

I put down Kemonozume (The Beast Claw) and its the one I really want. Its only 13 episodes and I think its only been released on DVD in Japan. A 2006 title with action, romance, some horror and a unique look. Its great stuff. If not Nozomi then I hope Discotek picks it up as it should also be in their wheelhouse. The rest I put down is mainly longshots and license rescues: Dennou Coil, Blood+, The Beast Master Erin, It would be a shame if Satoshi Kon's works stay out of print in NA (Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress) though they probably command a premium price, Nodame Cantabile.

It's almost a crime that something as good as LotGH remains unlicensed, but being so long, I can see why companies would be hesitant to get it. Sad

Rightstuf is one the companies that doesn't mind the oldies though, so hopefully it has a chance.

I already have VOTOMS, but yeah, I'd definitely take the OVAs too if they manage to snag them, Armor Hunter Mellowlink too.

Accelerando would be good too, though if we got any of those at all, they'd be censored because Pink Pineapple.

Koi Kaze- Wouldn't be the first time that Nozomi license rescued a title as they've snagged up old Geneon, Central Park Media and ADV titles. Considering the amount of praise this series received years ago in spite of its rather controversial subject material, I believe this baby's long due for a re-release.
There's probably nothing stopping them from dipping into the Geneon well, but sadly Koi Kaze's high praise never translated very well into sales. (Was going to say that they've never rescued any Geneon titles, but then I remembered El-Hazard: The Wanderers.)

The company's been known to pick up the occasional niche titles that other American licensors wouldn't pick up such as Emma, Aria, Maria Watches Over Us and Aoi Hana. If they've been willing to pick up titles like those, then I don't see where they wouldn't possibly be able to pick up Koi Kaze.

Why would they be censored even in the US? Also Accelerando I don't want, too rapey for me. Looking at the Pink Pineapple company page here, I was surprised to find how many titles they made I have seen, (not necessarily liked though, although there are a fair number that I did) never really paid attention to that kind of stuff for hentai. Koihime seems to be the only one I liked, that's got licensed though, I believe it was uncensored.

Pink Pineapple basically stopped licensing their hentai overseas because the availability of uncensored versions (via downloads, bootlegs and reverse imports) was cutting into their domestic sales, and I guess whatever revenue they got from licensees wasn't enough to make up for it. That's why I presume that if we did get anything of theirs over here again, it would be censored.

I see. Maybe that's why the hentai licensing here in the states has all but disappeared as well. I really don't get the Japanese on censoring policies though, it's pretty hypocritical.

That's pretty much it. There's a company, R18.com, that sells (censored)digital copies, but when I checked them out there weren't any English subs and the DRM went to the point of using their own media player. The English names they gave everything were also incredibly clunky; they even managed to turn "Imouto Paradise" into "Little Sister Heaven"(completely ignoring MangaGamer's bringing over the original game under its original name).
