Hi, I'm new to the site, and I've noticed that none of the anime titles' listed genres include both the Fantasy, and the Magic, genres together; it's always one or the other. Titles like InuYasha, MÄR, and Lodoss War, are "victims" of this practice. I happen to enjoy anime that include both these genres, so I'm annoyed that I can't do a simple genre search to find them.
To sum it up; are these two genres considered to be interchangeable with one another?

Not exactly interchangeable, but it has to be one or the other and cannot be both. This thread about the genres is over seven years old, but I do not think that anything has changed since then. I do not agree with some of the decisions, such as making action and adventure mutually exclusive, but there does not seem to be any point in arguing about it. |
