Aka childlike anime characters, there is a certain amount of visual appeal that draws some anime fans to them. I think there is a wide degree of variation in the nature of this appeal, it may be sexual it may not be. How lolis are presented visually by the artist is in itself not determined by the degree of the viewer's response. In other words, I believe we should exercise restraint on limits to the expression by creators of that art as a method to regulate how art is perceived. This is consistent with the method by which Japan attempts to safeguard viewers of graphically intense illustrative works who may be adversely affected: those viewers are prevented from obtaining it, rather than directly inhibiting artists' ability to produce it. Thus, if it can be imagined it can be presented on a digital or physical canvas.
Unfortunately outsiders with a self-perceived sense of moral righteousness feel the need to get involved as much as their conscience directs them. We should not control artistic output even if there is great demand for material that may be perceived by some as illustrative child exploitation. My reference to lolis is not to explore the right or wrong of sexually explicit renderings of characters with a childlike appearance. I simply want to express the opinion that characters, regardless of apparent age are legitimate subjects for individuals to have a disproportionate appreciation for specifically because of a cute and youthful appearance. And it should not be excusable for others to make accusations or morality judgments against fans with that specific type of appreciation. Nevertheless it is probably wise, if you think you are going to be singled out because of your interest in lolis, to have caution in publicizing your interest. Being self-conscious about the realization you prefer loli characters, is not an indication that there is something wrong with you, the fault lies with the world where so many people are quick to misinterpret, misjudge and label others as freaks (criminals even? please) because of this false notion that some sort of pervasive standard of normalcy exists. Just to show support for loli love I will be watching the Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat. And for pertinent reference material, check out this blog that I have stumbled on http://anime-otakus.de/the-best-loli-animes/ (Warning NSFW) |

I do like me some lolis, and I'm not shy with admiting that. Sure I felt guilty about it and was in denial at first, but I eventually accepted it.
Anything wrong with that? I don't think so, so long as 2D and 3D are kept separate. Most loli fans have no problems with this. We're not about to run off and go after real kids. Anime character designs are appealing in such a way that doesn't exist in real life in the first place. |

I like lolis.
But I prefer my shotas to be honest. Especially when they look like delicious cake. ALso, nice blog link Past. Good way to brush on my German. |

Okay, I am DuskyPredator, and I like lolis. Although I wonder if that is a surprise. I have always been a little afraid to voice that because people might think of me as some sort of pedophile, they can be true lolis in their age, but the older than they looks are some favourite characters: Mondaiji's Shiroyasha, Tsukuyomi Komoe, etc.
I think I should be able to like them, really I get uncomfortable with some fanservice. Although in all honesty I would be lieing to say that I did not like a number of loli fanservice anime. Lolis rule. |

Umm... I really don't think that this is grounds for proper debate and discussion. Can we please get this thread locked, mods?

I love lolis in an awwww they are so cute way. I always hated when people make the correlation that liking lolis also made you a pedophile. There is a big difference between 2d and 3d kids.
This line basically sums it up. Most anime lolis are adorable things that you want to take care of, while most kids are spawns of the devil and are only truly loved by their parents. No one likes annoying kids and that trope is usually nonexistent in anime. |

I fail to see how this poses a problem while the rape discussion thread doesn't.
Granted if no one steps in to propose an (intelligent) counter argument, it might just be filled with "I like loli!" posts. |

There is a widely adopted school of thought that some classes of entertainment promote the abuse of children in real life. In the US we are living in an environment where minors have encountered legal trouble -- potential prosecution as a child pornagrapher! -- for having photos of themselves on their own cell phones. That's how bad it can get. There is no hope for this thread. It will go on forever rehashing the same arguments that have appeared thousands of times before. Or it will die. I vote for that. |

I think the subject that people have bias against those who like lolis is fair enough. Do you think the subject is dusgusting? Say why. Lolis can also be adorable without being, um, attractive too. |

In addition to everything HaruhiToy said, I personally don't want to see people validating their enjoyment of fictional child abuse for no intelligent reason. Not to say that you have per say, but this thread can definitely be a breading ground for it. I mean, I don't wanna see people do that in my animu forum. And yes, "admiring" children in a sexual manner is detestable in any medium.
Edit: Please realize that I am talking about an extreme. |

I have no specific hate for the lolis. I think some of them are cute. They have become pretty much an integral part of anime these days so its pretty hard to not see them pop up everywhere, even in shows that don't focus on featuring them. They seem to be almost as indispensable as the dirty old man, the tsundere, the childhood friend, and the virgin geeky guy who is incredibly indecisive about which hot girl he wants to date and super clumsy about stumbling into them and accidentally grabbing their sex parts.
One random thing I was just thinking about... are there many shows that have both lolis and shotas in them as main characters? The only one I can think of is Kanokon, though I don't see many such shows or manga. |

Past, you are not fighting for any cause. You are supporting the worst of anime. The "topic" doesn't need to be resurfaced. It is a detestable thing that needs to die. Please realize that I am not attacking you or what you think of lolis, but what this thread represents.

Won't someone think of the (virtual) children!11!!! God willing that we protect the fake children from predators. After all, splashes of ink on a page have rights too, ya' know? I have to say that your grip on reality and fantasy is kinda screwed up. Might wanna get that looked at. |
