That's bad for 4Kids, but I don't feel bad for them considering the past Anime business they had. I didn't watch much of Yu-Gi-Oh, so I don't have a say on what ever DVDs were made for R1 use.
As long as Funimation isn't 100% involved in this, then that's good for Funimation fans like me. Otherwise it be bad if they were in the same boat as 4Kids is right now.

Well, if Funi are shown to be more than just the unwitting tools of 4kids' embezzlement schemes, then it will be yet another blow to the weakened US anime industry.

4Kids will need a serious miracle to rise up out of this mess. It's bad enough for them that they had to lose Pokemon and Ninja Turtles. Yu-Gi-Oh! was the only major franchise they had left. Now that they've lost that and are facing a financial suit, what's left for this company to do to survive?

As much as I like seeing this being done to a company who clearly only cares about money and not content, I can't help but feel that FUNi are just playing dumb with this whole issue.
I didn't get a chance to read the details about the One Piece suit, but I have a feeling the dismissal had something to do with what's going on here. (Priorities, FUNi apparently has them!)

They aren't related at all.
This happened because 4kids failed to pay them money.
And the case is against 4kids for entering into these agreements to intentionally hide profits, not FUNi.

I hope this doesn't make other companies "spook" about licensing and such. Just because 4kids did it, doesn't mean others will. Just one bad apple out of many good apples.
A bit sad to see 4Kids go down hill like this. Even though they did mess up many shows, at least brought it attention for others. I guess its karma, I suppose.
Hope Funi is truly innocent about this situation. Don't need the US anime industry to fall any more.

You are a self-entitled, spoiled piece of garbage.
I love when people say crap like this, because these companies somehow "ruined" anime. I'm sure you'd love it if there were people out there that specifically tried to make sure you lost your employment. These people have lives and jobs to supplement maintaining those lives. Wishing that these companies fail whilst you sit back, looking all smug because you made an edgy post on the internet using that computer that mommy and daddy probably bought you, is real easy, ain't it?

They dub anime and then have the gall to charge money for it!

Wow this is awesome news for me. Considering One Piece is my favorite anime ever I have always wanted 4kids to suffer greatly for what they did to One Piece.

Dear Everyone,
When there is an obvious troll post (example: 6Hokage's post), please do not quote it over and over and over and over again. It makes it very difficult to scrub it from the thread and you're only adding to the problem.

Oh, haha. Sorry about that!
Still though, sometimes I wonder how could FUNi not see what's going or, as someone said, did enough research to know that 4KIDS wasn't granted permission to do what they did behind the creators and their respective companies backs.
But I suppose it's hard to distrust someone you've been in business with for a long time...
