A few more I spotted today:
Shoutarou Morikubo (#5119) Shotaro Morikubo (#412) Showtaro Morikubo (#21911) All of them are acceptable spellings. First entry listed has the most roles and a picture. Yuko Minaguchi (#528) (correct spelling) Yuko Minaguichi (#6161) (misspelling) Yuko Minagushi (#15971) (misspelling) |

Will BARRETT (#13206)
is a pseudonym of Andrew PHILPOT (#1409) - in other words, they're the same person. Also, John HOLMES (#4977) is a pseudonym of Michael SORICH (#3050) Source: Internet Movie Database -abunai |

谷山紀章
Taniyama, Kishô (#8073) Taniyama, Kisyou (#7330) Both are acceptable romaji, but since his official site uses "Kisho" it's better to stick with it. Sources: http://www.kenproduction.co.jp/list/taniyama_2.html http://sdb.noppo.com/kisyou_t.htm EDIT: Fixed Last edited by dormcat on Sat Oct 16, 2004 6:39 am; edited 1 time in total |

Same kanji, different furigana, different person.
There are at least two 小林恵美 in Japanese showbiz, Emi Kobayashi (a pop idol) and Megumi Kobayashi (a seiyuu). There's no evidence (at least not one I could find) that Emi Kobayashi has done voice acting, and all credits under her entry at ANN (#3244): GTO, KonoMini, Monster, and Narutaru, are actually works of Megumi Kobayashi (#447). Please transfer all works under Emi Kobayashi to Megumi Kobayashi and, if there's no evidence that she has done voice acting or staff (e.g. theme song performance) in any other anime, delete entry #3244. The staff positions of Megumi Kobayashi for GitS and NieA_7 look suspicious too. I suspect there are more 小林恵美 in anime industry (it's a rather common name). This one is a bit funny.
荻原秀樹 (おぎはら ひでき, Hideki OGIHARA) has three entries: Hideki OGIHARA (#7350, correct) Hideki OGIWARA (#3681, misspelled) Hideki HAGIWARA (#10996 (see below)) He mentioned that his name is often written as 萩原 (はぎわら, HAGIWARA) in the credits list. He even wrote a page explaining an embarrassing encounter regarding this misspelled name. Strange, recent duplicate encounters are all complicated cases. Instead of simple misspelling, I have to explain the situation of each case individually. I don't like to have four posts straight down....
Yoshikazu Iwanami (岩浪美和, #979) is a famous sound director for many anime. Those sound directing credits under Miwa Iwanami (#1523) should be transferred to #979, according to his official website. However, this does not mean that Miwa Iwanami is simply a misspelled name. I did find some references, namely from goo, to spell his given name as Miwa. On the other hand, all works credit on that page has been included in Yoshikazu Iwanami's official website, and goo did have records of wrong information.... Heck, I'm totally confused now. I'd say Yoshikazu Iwanami should be the correct one, but someone who's more knowledgeable and capable than I am should do a double check. EDIT: Fixed. Is there anyone else reading this thread?
Tada! The newest champion of duplicate entries: Mugihito (麦人, #445) with FIVE entries. His real name is Makoto TERADA (寺田誠, #1663), and he had been using a stage name Mugihito AMACHI (天地麦人), which is misspelled as Mugihito TENCHI (#14959). Entries Mugihito MUGIHITO (#1044) and Mugito (#6735) are both misspelled. According to his official website, please use #445 as his main entry and redirect #1663 to #445 while delete entries #1044, #6735, and #14959, after moving their cast credits under #445. EDIT: Fixed. A tricky one...
The mangaka behind Bleach usually works under the name Kubotite (#15428) {"kubotite", btw, is a mineral} although his real name is apparently Kubo Taito (#19151). I suggest that the former be the 'officially approved' listing, and the latter link to it. Complicating matters, somebody entered Kubo Tite (#30787) into the Encyclopedia - and that's just wrong. I suggest this one be deleted. - abunai Last edited by abunai on Fri Oct 22, 2004 6:00 am; edited 1 time in total |

Shinya Ohira (#30852) has also been romanized as Shin'ya Oohira (#6945) and Shinya Oodaira (#4192). The first one is simplest and the only spelling that I've found outside of the Encyclopedia.
