posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Indonesian publisher Shining Rose Media announced on Thursday that it has licensed Kazuma Ōtorino's Nanana's Buried Treasure (Ryūgajō Nanana no Maizōkin) light novel series. The publisher is also offering a preview of the novel's first chapter.
The novels center around the treasure of Nanana, a ghost who was once a beautiful but NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) girl. A boy named Jūgo was disowned by his father and forced to transfer to a high school on the "Special Student Zone," an artificial island. With only 40,000 yen (about US$400) a month to live on, Jūgo chooses a low-rent apartment that happens to be haunted by Nanana. Jūgo and members of the school's adventure club join a "treasure hunt royale" on the island for the Nanana Collection, a treasure that possesses a mysterious power.
Ōtorino and Akaringo launched the novel series in January 2012, and the 10th volume shipped last October. The novel won the top prize in the 13th Enterbrain Entertainment Awards in September 2011. In addition to the novel, Hitoshi Okuda launched a manga version in Kadokawa's Famitsu magazine in January 2012, and Kadokawa published the second and final compiled volume in March 2013. The novel series received an 11-episode television anime adaptation in 2014.
The second volume of a spinoff novel series, Tensai's Reluctant Deduction, shipped last April.
