Toei Animation Reveals Popin Q Original Anime Film

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Toei Animation revealed the Popin Q feature-length original anime film project on Monday. The company had previously previewed the project last April under the title "file(N):project PQ" as a dance-themed original anime film project. The film is commemorating the 60th anniversary of Toei Animation.

Toei Animation also revealed the film's cast on the film's official website. The film will star Shiori Izawa, Ari Ozawa, Tomoyo Kurosawa, Asami Seto, and Atsumi Tanezaki. The film will host a stage event at the Anime Japan 2016 event on March 27. All five voice actresses will attend the event, and the event will reveal more news abut the film.

Toei Animation also revealed a new key visual for the project. The tagline on the visual reads, "By becoming just a tiny bit more honest, with just that the world will change."

Toei Animation had previewed the project in two videos last April.

The story begins the day before the graduation ceremony. Five middle school girls each are preoccupied with their real everyday lives. These girls meet each other in a fantasy world after being sent there through a sudden occurrence. There, they learn about the impending crisis that this world is facing. The way to avert this crisis is for the five to collaborate and bring their five hearts together as one through dance. However, the five cannot come to love the world, and cannot tell their true feelings to one another, so their hearts are unable to unite. The time limit is fast approaching. Can the dance of the five girls save the world? And will they be able to graduate?

Naoki Miyahara (Dragon Ball Z, "Precure All-Star DX 3D Theater" short, Precure series dance sequences) is directing the film, and Kouhaku Kuroboshi (Kino's Journey, World Conquest Zvezda Plot) drafted the original character designs. Takayuki Uragami serves as character designer and chief animation director.

The Yahoo! Kids Japan website is hosting a website for the project that aims to to teach children how to dance.
