The official website for the Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage (Mt. Reiken: Stardust's Banquet or alternately, Sacred Sword Mountain: Stardust's Banquet) anime revealed more cast members, character designs, and the premiere date on Thursday.

The anime will premiere on January 8 on AT-X, and it will then air on Tokyo MX TV, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and TV Aichi, and it will stream on d Anime Store, GyaO!, Niconico, UNEXT, Anime Hōdai, and other services.

The additional cast is as follows (note: in the anime the names have been changed from the original novel to reflect the Japanese reading of the name kanji):

Yuriko Yamaguchi as Ōbu, a woman who is Ōriku's master and the fifth elder of the "Reiken" school. Her impudence and wicked tongue are on par with Ōriku's.

Daiki Kobayashi as Ōchū

Masakazu Nishida as Kaiunho, a companion of Ōriku's in terms of the pursuit of knowledge. He is the second prince of another strong country.

Kenichirō Matsuda as Iemoto

They will join Tsubasa Yonaga (Yowamushi Pedal's Sangaku Manami, Free!'s Nagisa Hazuki, Chihayafuru's Tsutomu Komano), who plays Ōriku (Lu Wang in the original Chinese novel, character design pictured below), a rare genius whose IQ and impudence are both unparalleled.

Additionally, Nako Eguchi will play Bunin (character's name reading has not yet been officially verified).

The anime is based on Guo Wang Bi Xia's (lit. His Majesty the King) popular Chinese online novel and comic titled Cong Qian You Zuo Ling Jian Shan (lit: There Was a Spiritual Sword Mountain). The online novel launched in August 2013, and Zhuhua and Junxiaomo's online comic launched in August 2014.

In the anime's story, a comet falling will bring about a great calamity, and in order to choose a child fated by the falling comet, the family of the "Reiken" clan with a long storied history is once again resuming its entrance examination process to find disciples. The protagonist Ōriku (Lu Wang in the original novel), who possesses a special soul that is only available once in a thousand years, decides to take the exam, and he starts down the path toward becoming an exceptional sage. Studio DEEN notes that the anime will be full of gags.

Iku Suzuki (Yumeiro Pâtissière, Maze, Kodocha, DearS) is directing the series at Studio DEEN. Makoto Iino (key animator for Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, Oreshura, Sword Art Online) is handling the character design, and Yumiko Ishii (Samurai Harem, animation director for Samurai Champloo, Space Brothers) is the chief animation director. Additionally, Hirofune Hane (Gifū Dōdō!! Kanetsugu to Keiji) is the art director, Kazuhisa Yamabu is handling the color key, Kazuya Tanaka (Mushi-Shi, Actually, I Am…, Flowers of Evil) is the sound director, and Half HP Studio is producing the sound. Chinese company Shenzhen Tencent Computer System Company Limited is producing the series alongside Studio DEEN. The companies plan to air the series simultaneously in Japan and China, and they plan to produce both Japanese-language version and a Mandarin Chinese-language version of the show.
