Shiro Amano: Kingdom Hearts Manga Series is Finished

posted on by Kyle Hallmark
Illustrator finished his Kingdom Hearts II serialization in May

Illustrator Shiro Amano confirmed on Twitter on Friday that his Kingdom Hearts manga series has ended. Amano said in the post, "It's a little sad but, the Kingdom Hearts manga has finished, so I probably won't be posting any related Tweets anymore."

Amano completed the serialization of his Kingdom Hearts II manga in May.

Amano launched his adaptation of Square Enix and Tetsuya Nomura's action role-playing game Kingdom Hearts II in Shonen Gangan in 2006. However, he left it incomplete when he moved on to Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Amano then resumed the manga in 2012 after finishing Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Square Enix shipped the 10th and final volume of Kingdom Hearts II (pictured at right) on August 22.

Amano has created manga adaptations for Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days games. North American publisher Tokyopop released all four volumes of Kingdom Hearts, both volumes of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and two volumes of Kingdom Hearts II before the company shut down its North American publishing division in 2011.

Yen Press then licensed all four manga adaptations in 2013. The company has also released the Shiro Amano: The Artwork of Kingdom Hearts artbook and Tomoco Kanemaki and Amano's two-volume Kingdom Hearts light novel series.
