posted on by Karen Ressler
Also announces streaming details for The Perfect Insider

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will stream the anime Magical Somera-chan (Fushigi na Somera-chan) as it airs in Japan. The first episode will premiere on Thursday, October 8 at 1:45 p.m. EDT and future episodes will air on Thursdays. The stream will be available worldwide outside of Asia.

The series premiered on October 7 11:55 p.m. in Japan on AT-X.

The anime will be the third one based on Choboraunyopomi's manga, after Ai Mai Mi and Choboraunyopomi Gekijō Dainimaku Ai Mai Mi: Mōsō Catastrophe. Itsuki Imazaki returns from those two earlier anime to direct Fushigi na Somera-chan, again at Studio Seven. Imazaki is also serving as scriptwriter, producer, and character designer. Dream Creation is producing the anime. Fūga Hatori will return to compose the music, and Masakatsu Oomuro (Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san, I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying) is joining the staff as sound director.

The manga follows the daily life of Somera-chan, a wielder of mysterious magical powers, and those around her. The manga ran in Ichijinsha's Manga Palette Lite magazine until 2011, and Ichijinsha published two volumes. The anime is also adapting the sequel, Fushigi na Somera-chan Haute Couture, which Choboraunyopomi began in Ichijinsha's Manga 4 koma Palette in April, shortly after the anime adaptation was announced.

Crunchyroll also announced that it will stream The Perfect Insider on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. EDT beginning this week. Crunchyroll announced in July that it would stream the series.

The stream will be available in the United States (and its territories), Canada, Central and South America (including the Caribbean), South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen Lied, I''s Pure) is directing the anime at A-1 Pictures (The IDOLM@STER, Persona 4 the Golden Animation). Toshiya Ono (Gatchaman Crowds, tsuritama) is in charge of series composition. Kenji Kawai (Patlabor, Fate/stay night) is composing the music and Inio Asano (Solanin, Nijigahara Holograph) is drawing the original character designs.

The story of the original Subete ga F ni Naru novel revolves around Sōhei Saikawa, a member of the Saikawa Research Lab. He goes on a vacation held by the lab, and Moe Nishinosono, the daughter of his mentor, joins the group on their vacation despite not being a part of the lab. There, the two end up finding a corpse. The two work together to solve the mysteries of what becomes a serial murder case.

The 1996 novel is the first installment in Hiroshi Mori's S&M series of novels. A live-action television drama adaptation of the novel aired from October to December last year on the Fuji TV channel.
