Odin Sphere Leifthrasir Game's Promos Highlight Story & Action
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Atlus posted two promotional videos for Odin Sphere Leifþrasir (romanized Odin Sphere Leifthrasir), the upcoming HD recreation of Vanillaware's Odin Sphere PlayStation 2 game, on Friday.
The "story" video introduces the game's main characters, as well as some scenes from the game's story.
The "action" video previews the game's new mechanics, such as combos, finishing moves, and Psypher skill trees.
The promotional videos also reveal that first copies of the game will include Odin Sphere Leifþrasir Artworks, a deluxe edition of the previous Odin Sphere Artworks book.
The game's story centers around a war between the kingdom of Ragnanival, led by the king Odin, and the realm of Ringford, led by the queen Elfaria. Their war has devastated the country of Valentine, of which only scattered ruins remain. The story is told from the perspective of five characters whose stories intertwine: Gwendolyn, valkyrie and younger daughter of Odin; Cornelius, prince of the neutral country of Titania; Mercedes, daughter of Elfaria and princess of Ringford; Oswald, a shadow knight and agent of Ringford; and Velvet, a survivor of Valentine's devastation.
The Japanese cast of the five main protagonists is returning for the new game.
- Ayako Kawasumi as Gwendolyn
- Daisuke Namikawa as Cornelius
- Mamiko Noto as Mercedes
- Susumu Chiba as Oswald
- Miyuki Sawashiro as Velvet
Atlus USA announced in July that it will bring the game to North America in 2016.
Atlus and Vanillaware are collaborating on the game, which will debut in Japan for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita on January 14, 2016. Atlus USA released Vanillaware's original Odin Sphere game for PlayStation 2 in 2007.
