Mighty No. 9 Delayed Until Fall With Physical Release

posted on by Daryl Lee Hale
September 15 in N. America, September 18 worldwide

Comcept announced on Tuesday it will partner with game publisher Deep Silver to release Keiji Inafune's multi-platform video game Mighty No. 9 this fall.

The game will debut for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 15 in North America and September 18 for the rest of the world. The portable version for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita will follow.

Physical copies of the 2D side-scroller will be available for Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PC, Linux, and Mac. The game will be available digitally for all platforms.

Deep Silver also announced the game will include additional downloadable content that will allow the player to access an extra stage and unlock the protagonist's rival as a playable character.

Comcept will retain ownership of Mighty No. 9 and Deep Silver will lead the sales area and assist in the QA testing of the game.

Mighty No. 9 was initially set to ship this spring. Inafune (Megaman) and his company raised more than US$3.5 million in its crowdfunding campaign for the game in October 2013.

Comcept describes the game's story:

In the year 20XX, breakthroughs in robotic technology have ushered in a new era of peace & prosperity. Violence is confined to the Battle Coliseum, where robot combatants face off in spectacular duels. Dr. White created 9 robot siblings known as the “Mighty Numbers”, who were the most popular and powerful team of robots in the Battle Coliseum and always in the top ranks. But, during one competition there was a cyber-attack, infecting them with a computer virus causing them to become crazed and rampant. You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by the mysterious computer virus that caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk.
