Gaming Never Looked So Good-- GEN CON Indy 2004
North America's Largest Annual Consumer Game Convention

SEATTLE, Washington (August 4, 2004)— Gaming and anime enthusiasts worldwide are marking their calendars for the much-anticipated Gen Con Indy, the largest consumer hobby game convention in North America. With more than 25,000 attendees each year and more new-product introductions than any other game convention in the U.S., Gen Con is THE place where consumers, game manufactures, and vendors get together to experience the latest and greatest in the gaming industry, along with time-honored classics. This year marks the 37th year of the annual event which is slated for August 19–22 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

At Gen Con gaming enthusiasts don't simply attend—they participate in over 3,500 gaming events including interactive game play, hobby-related events, and computer gaming. The gaming world has seen a great influx of anime-related games over the past few years, and Gen Con is a testament to this trend. Anime CCGs such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Initial D, .hack//ENEMY and Aquarian Age will be available for play and purchase, and anime RPGs (Role-Playing Games) like Big Eyes, Small Mouth (BESM) continue to gather momentum.

Included in this vast array of games and demonstrations are the 24-hour anime rooms. HADES Pro. Heavy Industries (HPHI) returns for their 14th year with Gen Con to provide a non-stop anime viewing experience.

HPHI focuses on newly-released titles to entertain the multitude of attendees at Gen Con. New titles and popular classics scheduled for screening include .hack//Legend of the Twilight, GTO, Yukikaze, Fruits Basket, Gunparade March and Eight Clouds Rising. The anime room will be open free of charge to all badge-holders starting the morning of Thursday August 19 and continuing non-stop to Sunday August 22 at 2:00 PM, when their convention event closes its doors for another year. For more information about HPHI and room layout, visit www.hadespro.org. The Indiana Anime Club (IAC) will also be hosting a 24-hour anime room, allowing attendees the chance to view a great selection of shows. Visit the IAC website at www.indyanime.org for more information.

Gen Con has over 230 booths from which enthusiasts can learn more about their favorite games and product from companies ranging from the biggest in the business to hot, smaller shops. Often game manufacturers use Gen Con as a stepping stone to display their new games or to run their premier tournaments at. Among the games exhibitors present at this year's convention, a host of anime companies will be in attendance, understanding the apparent correlation between gaming and anime.

Bandai America, Inc. and Media Blasters represent the US side of the Japanese animation home video distribution, while Anime Depot, Anime Palace and Anime Pavilion represent the retail consumer side, providing attendees ample opportunities to complete a collection or start a new one. Guardians of Order, makers of BESM and Card Haus, distributors of anime CCGs, will also be in attendance.

Gen Con Indy will be open to the public Thursday, August 19 through Sunday, August 22 with 24-hour gaming including a computer gaming area. The convention will take place at the Indiana Convention Center, a 620,000 square foot state of the art facility in downtown Indianapolis.

Attendees must purchase badges to gain entrance to the show. A four-day badge is $70 on site. A one-day badge is $27 on site. Children 8 and under are free with an accompanying adult. For more information and to register, call (800) 529-EXPO or visit www.gencon.com.
