Nintendo's Miyamoto Discusses New Pikmin, Star Fox

More Pikmin games on the way; Starfox game coming to E3

Nintendo game designer and producer Shigeru Miyamoto appeared as a guest on Smosh Games' YouTube show Button Bash and answered questions about Pikman, F-Zero and Star Fox game franchises.

When asked about Pikmin, Miyamoto mentioned that he has various ideas for the franchise, and while nothing has been decided yet, Nintendo will continue to make Pikmin games. He also explained that he directed the Pikmin animated shorts because he and his team were not able "depict the Pikman individually in the ways that we wanted to" in the original games.

On the F-Zero racing games, Miyamoto mentioned that other designers are making more traditional racing-style games, and he would like to focus on something more game-like. He has no current plans to make a new game in the series, but said Nintendo might if they find a controller interface that's a good fit.

Miyamoto said he worked on F-Zero with designer Takaya Imamura, and the two are currently focused on the next Star Fox game. He says the game will make heavy use of the Wii U's controller screen, and will allow users to continue playing during the cinematic cut-scenes. He will have a playable version at E3.
