Chocotan! Shōjo Dog Anime Short Streamed

Shogakukan-Shueisha subsidiary Sho-Pro began streaming a ten-minute short based on Kozue Takeuchi's Chocotan! (Chocolate & Tan!) shōjo manga, which is serialized in Ribon magazine. The short premiered over the weekend of April 6-7 at Ribon Festa 2013.
The cast is as follows:

The animated short begins with the talking miniature dachshund Chocotan and her owner Nao as they discuss the red string that ties destined lovers together. The two of them go on a walk in the park and meet Nao's crush Arima, who is usually there to walk his grumpy dog, Happy. Nao and Arima discuss throwing a birthday party for Happy, but are interrupted by Arima's female classmates who take over the conversation, leaving Nao to walk off on her own, upset. The next day Nao is sad and Chocotan tries to cheer her up, but seems to have lost her ability to talk. Upon seeing that Chocotan is sad, Nao tries to cheer up, and even though Chocotan can no longer talk she is able to convey the message to Nao that Nao should do her best. Nao goes out to the park again to tell Arima that she would like to continue to walk their dogs together everyday, and Arima agrees. Apparently, Happy had scared the other girls away. The short ends with Chocotan pointing out that the two dogs' red leashes look like the red string of fate, and then accidentally revealing to Nao and a shocked Arima that she can talk again.
Takeuchi launched the manga in 2011, and Shueisha published the fourth compiled book earlier this month.
