Nintendo Wii U's Global Launch, Game Lineup Revealed (Updated)

Basic, deluxe sets to launch on November 18 in U.S. for US$299.99/ US$349.99

Nintendo revealed during its streamed Nintendo Direct Wii U Preview on Thursday that it will launch its Wii U console in North America on November 18, followed by Europe on November 30. The basic set will include the console itself in white with eight gigabytes of internal flash memory, a white GamePad, AC adaptors for both, a high-speed HDMI cable, and a sensor bar for US$299.99. The deluxe set will include a black console with 32 gigabytes of internal flash memory, a black GamePad, AC adaptors for both, a high-speed HDMI cable, and a sensor bar for US$349.99.

(The similar basic and premium sets in Japan both lack the sensor bar, while the Japanese premium set adds the Nintendo Network Premium service, a pre-paid card, and three stands for the console and GamePad.)

The launch titles and services include:

  • New Super Mario Bros. U (Nintendo)
  • Nintendo Land (Nintendo) With three team "attraction" games (The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest, Pikmin Adventure, Metroid Blast), three versus attractions (Mario Chase, Luigi's Ghost Mansion, Animal Crossing Sweet Day), and six mini-attractions (Yoshi's Fruit Cart, Octopus Dance, Donkey Kong's Crash Course, Takamaru's Ninja Castle, the newly revealed, F-Zero-inspired Captain Falcon's Twister Race, Balloon Trip Breeze)
  • Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (Tecmo KOEI Games)
  • Musou Orochi 2 Hyper/Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper (Tecmo KOEI Games)
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition (Namco Bandai Games)

    With mushroom battle mode and collaboration costumes such as Princess Peach, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Link

  • ZombiU (Ubisoft)
  • Assassin's Creed III (Ubisoft)
  • Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition (Warner Bros.)
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate/Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver. (CAPCOM)

    This game will arrive on the Wii U in Japan at launch, but on the 3DS and Wii U in the United States in March 2013.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Activision)
  • Nintendo TVii

    Built-in application that combines all available video services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Instant Video, into one interface personalized for each Mii account
