Say Hello to Black Jack's Sato to Post Manga Online

posted on by Egan Loo
Plans to post New Say Hello to Black Jack 1 month after magazine serialization

Shuho Sato, the creator of the Say Hello to Black Jack, Umizaru, and The Isle of TOKKOU manga, revealed in a Monday blog entry that he will distribute his own manga online one month after their publication in magazines. He is currently serializing the New Say Hello to Black Jack manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comics Spirits magazine. After the magazine publishes the work, Sato will take advantage of the fact that he owns the rights to the manga himself. He is already planning new manga works, but predicts that he will serialize those works directly online, instead through magazines first.

Sato revealed last month and this month that he loses money creating manga for magazines, but makes up the difference in royalties in the compiled volume reprints. Kazuo Koike began publishing his latest Lone Wolf and Cub manga online on Tuesday after his short-lived Jin print magazine ended last year in the middle of the manga's run.
