DESTIN, FL - December 2, 2008 - The fourth annual Anime South convention is being held at the beautiful Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, Florida, on January 2nd - 4th, 2009. Anime South is a convention celebrating Japanese animation, music, and culture.
Pre-registration ends on December 3rd, after which memberships will only be available at-the-door. However, access to ticketed events, such as the Murder Mystery Ball, Maid Cafe, and Tea Party, is not guaranteed without a pre-registered Bronze, Silver, or Gold membership. (note: Gold memberships have sold out for the event)
Voice actors Richard Epcar, Vic Mignogna, and Ellyn Stern return to talk about their current and new projects. Other guests include multi-media artist Ashley Clark, costume designer Athena, comedy sketch group aniRAGE, cosplayer CJ Collins, and talk show host Ana Aesthetic.
The convention returns with up to 50% additional event space, along with an expanded Dealers Room. There will also be computer and console gaming tournaments run by CRC Data Tech. Additionally, origami workshops will be held by the University of West Florida's Japan House.
The hotel has almost sold out of its $99 room rate block for the convention. They will take reservations until December 3rd, after which the regular rack rates will apply. Hotel reservations can made by calling 850-267-9500. Convention code AMS should be used to obtain the $99 double occupancy rate. Please note that members can also check-in or check-out anywhere between December 31st and January 6th and receive the same rate, depending on availability. Please call the hotel directly for flexible dates, along with additional discounts for convention attendees wishing to upgrade their rooms. Each of the 600 guest suites has a private balcony with a spectacular view of Florida's Emerald Coast. The! minimum check-in age of 25 has been waived to 18 for our convention m embers.
