Sega Opens New Arcade Center in Ikebukuro on October 22

Genda Sega Entertainment president Nao Kataoka confirmed on Saturday that Sega will open a new arcade center in Ikebukuro on October 22. Kataoka stated the opening will be "volume 1" of an "Ikebukuro Project," and Sega will announce volumes 2 and 3 of the project soon.
The new arcade center will have five floors and will feature crane games, video games, and a café. The new building is across the street from the now-closed Sega Ikebukuro GiGO arcade.
Sega permanently closed its Sega Ikebukuro GiGO arcade in Tokyo on September 20, after 28 years. Sega closed the arcade center as the rental contract expired and the building will undergo remodeling.
The large-scale arcade center opened in July 1993 under the name Ikebukuro GiGO, and was renamed Sega Ikebukuro GiGO in July 2013. The building contained eight floors of arcade games, crane games, karaoke, photo booths, and more. The building also hosted a café and taiyaki stand that featured collaborations.
