Yakuza Game Studio Reorganizes as Chief Director, Producer Leave Sega

The official website for Sega's Yakuza (Ryū ga Gotoku) game series announced a restructuring of the game's development team, with series chief director Toshihiro Nagoshi and series producer Daisuke Satō leaving Sega. Both Nagoshi and Sato thanked the franchise's fans and asked them to support the new version of the Ryū ga Gotoku Studio.
Masayoshi Yokoyama (center in image above) will now succeed Nagoshi as series director, while producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto (third from right) is now chief producer, and director Ryōsuke Horii (third from left) is now chief director. Lost Judgement game director Yutaka Ito (second from left) is the studio technical manager, with Nobuaki Mitake (second from right) as art director, Takayuki Sorimachi (far left) as animation director, and Daisuke Fukagawa (far right) as visual design and cutscene director.
Yokoyama added in the statement that the team is developing a sequel to the Yakuza: Like A Dragon game that will continue Ichiban Kasuga's story.
Nagoshi stepped down from his role as chief creative officer of Sega, but continued as creative director of Sega since April 1. He has been working for Sega since 1989.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon shipped for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in January 2020. The game shipped in the West for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, Windows 10 and PC via Steam in November 2020, and on the PlayStation 5 on March 2 earlier this year. The game shipped for Xbox X|S, Xbox One, and PC in Japan on February 25.
