Rainbow's Masasumi Kakizaki Launches New Manga in October

Yomotsu Hegui centers on man who loses everything, meets shinigami

The October issue of Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine announced on Tuesday that Masasumi Kakizaki is launching a new manga titled Yomotsu Hegui (Partaking of the Underworld's Food) in the magazine's next issue on October 19. The magazine teases the manga as centering on a man who has lost everything and meets a shinigami, and an "eternal battle for life."

Kakizaki most recently ended the manga adaptation of the S.P.Y. no Tsuma (The S.P.Y.'s Wife, manga pictured at right) live-action television movie on March 18. The manga's second and final compiled book volume also shipped on the same day.

Kakizaki launched the manga in Shogakukan's Sunday GX magazine in August 2020, and Shogakukan published the manga's first volume in October 2020.

George Abe and Kakizaki's Rainbow - Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin prison manga inspired a television anime series in 2010. Funimation streamed the series on its website. A live-action film adaptation of Kakizaki's Kansen Rettō horror manga debuted in 2009.
