M&C! Licenses Kasane Novel Prequel Izana

Indonesian publisher M&C! announced on Sunday that it has licensed Daruma Matsuura's Izana novel prequel of her Kasane manga. M&C! did not announce a release date for the novel.
The novel centers on the childhood of Izana, the mother of Kasane, the main character of the manga. The novel is set in Akeiwa, a remote and sparsely populated village bound by tradition and convention.
Matsuura published the novel in December 2014.
Matsuura launched the main manga series in Kodansha's Evening magazine in April 2013 as her debut work, and the series ended in August 2018. Kodansha published the 14th and final compiled book volume in September 2018. The manga was nominated for the Kodansha Manga Awards and the Manga Taisho Award in 2015. M&C! licensed the manga, and will ship the 12th volume on Wednesday.
The manga inspired a live-action film adaptation that opened in Japan in September 2018.
