Former NGT48 Idol Rena Hasegawa Makes Voice Actress Debut on Hokkaido Food Show

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Former NGT46 idol Rena Hasegawa will make her voice actress debut on the Hokkaido-based 2.5-animated program Sapporo Otome Gohan on September 4. The show is based on Ayaka Matsumoto's manga by the same name and launched on the Hokkaido Culture Broadcasting station in 2017.

The manga's story follows a single woman who works for a travel agency named Saori. Saori has been single for almost a year following a break-up with her long-time boyfriend. She takes in regional food while navigating her work and love life. The manga features real restaurants and shops in Hokkaido.

The anime uses real-life images of locations with manga-style cutouts of the characters. The first season of two-minute shorts aired in 2017 followed by a second season in 2018. The third season will premiere in September.

Hasegawa will voice the character Konomi Seki, a devilish 29-year-old dental assistant and Saori's high school junior. Hasegawa thanked Hokkado's residents on Twitter and said, "I will be able to tell you about the delicious foods of Hokkaido!"

Hasegawa signed with Shibuya-based talent agency Crocodile in June. Her first job was as the "official reporter" for the second season of the Dropkick on My Devil! anime series. Hasegawa also worked as the MC at the the CIRCLE FIRE 4@Kawasaki Club Citta event on June 29 and performed a mini anime song concert.

Hasegawa said in an interview with Sankei Sports that she wants to stick with voice acting for a long time.

Hasegawa "graduated" from NGT48's Team G on May 18 following the alleged assault of fellow team member Maho Yamaguchi.
