New Hyperdimension Neptunia OVA's 1st 6 Minutes Streamed

Frontier Works began streaming on Tuesday the first six minutes of the "A Part" of Chō Jigen Game Neptune The Animation: Nepu no Natsuyasumi (Nep's Summer Vacation), a new original video anime (OVA) project for the Hyperdimension Neptunia (Chō Jigen Game Neptune The Animation) television anime series.

The official website for the TV anime also began streaming a promotional video for the OVA on Wednesday.

The OVA will exclusively stream on PlayStation Video in Japan from July 8 to 21. Eight other streaming services will then begin streaming the anime on July 22, and it will debut on Bandai Channel on July 28. A limited-edition Blu-ray Disc release bundling a scale figure is slated for 2020.

Masahiro Mukai is returning from the television anime series to direct the OVA at studio Okuru to Noboru. Tsunako is returning as the original character designer, and Hitomi Takechi is returning to adapt those designs for animation. Shogo Yasukawa is returning to write the script.

Frontier Works will screen an unspecified "new episode" of the Hyperdimension Neptunia anime at its panel at Anime Expo on July 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Funimation streamed the 2013 television series as it aired, and released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2015 and 2017 with an English dub. The company describes the anime's story:

The most recent game in the Neptunia franchise is Super Neptunia RPG (Yūsha Neptune: Sekai yo Uchū yo Katsumoku se yo!! Ultimate RPG Sengen!!). Quebec-based video game developer Artisan Studios developed the game, and is the first Western studio to develop a game in the franchise. The game launched in Japan for the PlayStation 4 on December 20, and Idea Factory International released the game in the West in June for the PS4 and Switch.
