BookWalker's Global Store Holds 'How Not To Summon a Demon Lord's' Best Girl Contest

posted on by Kim Morrissy
Voting on both Japanese, global stores lasts from April 25 to May 31

It's time to settle the matter of who's the best girl from Yukiya Murasaki's How Not to Summon a Demon Lord light novel series once and for all. The Japanese and global storefronts of Kadokawa's e-book service BookWalker are holding a joint contest for users to vote for their favorite girl. The winning girl will get a bonus short story and illustration in an upcoming volume.

Every user gets one voting point, while those who purchase at least one How Not To Summon a Demon Lord LN volume during the contest period will receive an additional four points. The Japanese and global store polls are separate, and users can only choose to vote in one of the polls. Each store will have its own winner.

During the contest, the light novel volumes will be on discount. On the Japanese store, the first two volumes will cost 99 yen each, while the rest of the volumes will be 30% off. On the global store, the first seven volumes will be 20% off. Voting lasts from April 25 to May 31 (Pacific Time).

Kodansha published the first novel with illustrations by Takahiro Tsurusaki in December 2014. A television anime adaptation premiered in July 2018. J-Novel Club is releasing the novel series in English, and it describes the story:

In the MMORPG Cross Reverie, Takuma Sakamoto is so powerful that he is lauded as the “Demon Lord” by other players. One day, he is summoned to another world – but with the same appearance he had in the game! There, he meets two girls who both proclaim themselves to be his Summoner. They had performed an Enslavement Ritual to turn him into their Summon... but that's when Takuma's passive ability "Magic Reflection" activated! Instead, it was the girls who had become enslaved! Though Takuma may have been the strongest Sorcerer there was, he had no idea how to talk with other people. That's when he makes his choice: to act based on his persona from the game!

“Amazing? But of course... I am Diablo, the being known and feared as the Demon Lord!”

So begins a tale of adventure with an earth-shakingly powerful Demon Lord (or at least someone who acts like one) taking on another world!
