May 11-12 convention to feature “100 Years of Yuri” program

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) announced on Wednesday that it will host Hiromi Takashima, the yuri manga artist known for her Kase-san and... manga series.

Takashima will attend TCAF in support of the “100 Years of Yuri” program run by Erica Friedman. Takashima will have a feature interview and autograph sessions during the event.

Takashima's Kase-san and Morning Glories (Asagao to Kase-san) manga inspired a five-minute "animation clip" and an original video anime, which debuted in Japan in June 2018 in theaters. The manga follows a romance between "the clumsy, flower-adoring Yamada and the exuberant Kase-san, their school's track and field star.

Takashima serialized Kase-san and... in Shinshokan's yuri manga anthology Hirari until the magazine ceased publication in 2014. The series is ongoing on Shinshokan's Web Wings online manga platform. The manga began serializing in the LINE Manga app in March 2018.

Shinshokan published Kase-san and Morning Glories (Asagao to Kase-san) in 2012, followed by Obentō to Kase-san. (Kase-san and Bento) in 2012, Shortcake to Kase-san. (Kase-san and Shortcake) in 2015, and Apron to Kase-san. (Kase-san and an Apron) in 2017. The latest volume of the manga, Sakura to Kase-san (Kase-san and... Cherry Blossoms), shipped in May 2018 in a special edition with a newly recorded drama CD. Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the manga in North America.

TCAF will also host horror manga artist Junji Ito. Ito is the official poster artist for the event.

This year's TCAF will take place from May 11 to May 12 in Toronto, Ontario.
