Collegiate StarLeague Punches Up Offering with Street Fighter™ V Collegiate Leagues for the US and Canada

WorldGaming Network's collegiate gaming organization selected by prominent publisher CAPCOM® as official collegiate esports league and tournaments partner

Collegiate gamers, get your Hadoukens ready – Collegiate StarLeague, a division of WorldGaming Network, announced today that it has been selected by CAPCOM as an official esports partner, and is kicking off the partnership with its first-ever collegiate league for Street Fighter™ V.

“Fighting games have always been at the core of the competitive scene,” says Wim Stocks, CEO & General Manager of Collegiate StarLeague and WorldGaming Network. “We've had a long-standing relationship with CAPCOM and Street Fighter V, and we are very pleased to expand our partnership with CAPCOM to create an official collegiate league for Street Fighter V, and to help broaden our fighting game offering for passionate collegiate gamers in the US and Canada!”

Collegiate StarLeague – the world's first collegiate gaming organization – has been hosting collegiate competitions since 2009. In the decade since their founding, they have expanded to more than 1,600 universities and colleges, with more than 52,000 players actively competing in their league. These tournaments have resulted in a collective $650,000 in scholarships to deserving collegiate gamers.

“For more than 30 years, Street Fighter has been the king of fighting games,” said Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter series Executive Producer, CAPCOM. “We're delighted that our partnership with CSL will allow us to expand Street Fighter V to the collegiate market, with incredible live gaming events unlike anything else currently offered.”

The program, officially dubbed Street Fighter League: NA-College 2019, will kick off the partnership with a cross-country college tour in March:

  • March 17 - University of California, Berkeley
  • March 17 - Ohio State University
  • April 14 - Rutgers - Scarlet Classic
