Sony Cuts Price of PS4 Pro in Japan

posted on by Karen Ressler

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it will drop the price of the PlayStation 4 Pro console in Japan on October 12. Takashi Mochizuki, a tech reporter for The Wall Street Journal, reported that the company said it had no comment about the possibility of price changes outside Japan.

Both the Jet Black- and Glacier White-color consoles will drop from 44,980 yen (about US$394) to 39,980 yen (about US$351). The limited-edition Kingdom Hearts III PS4 Pro console will drop from 53,780 yen (US$472) to 48,780 yen (US$428). (All prices not including tax.)

The PlayStation 4 Pro console debuted in November 2016 for US$399. It features upgraded CPU, boosted clock rate, and a one terabyte hard drive. The system also has ultra-high-definition 4K and HDR support.
