Square Enix Teases New Title in Bravely Default RPG Series on Twitter

Official Flying Fairy, Nintendo accounts both tease new development in series

The official Twitter account for Square Enix's Bravely Default: Flying Fairy game teased a new titled in the Bravely Default series on Monday. The account teased with the below tweet, with the shadow in the illustration in the shadow evoking the cover art for the Bravely Default: Flying Fairy game. The tweet also encourages players to look forward to future games from Square Enix's Business Division 11, who were part of the development of both Bravely Default and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.

The tweet is a response to Square Enix's Octopath Traveler reaching 1 million units shipped globally. The tweet references an earlier tweet from Nintendo last week (shown below), that also evokes the cover of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.

Square Enix released the original Bravely Default: Flying Fairy game for the Nintendo 3DS in October 2012. An enhanced version of the game, titled Bravely Default: For the Sequel in Japan, shipped in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS in December 2013 and in North America in February 2014.

Square Enix released the Bravely Second: End Layer Nintendo 3DS sequel game in Japan in April 2015, in Europe in February 2016, and in North America in April 2016.

Square Enix's Bravely Archive D's Report smartphone game ended service last October. Bravely Default Fairy's Effect, another smartphone game based on the Bravely series, launched in March 2017.

Game developer and computer graphics company Silicon Studio, the developers of both of the main Bravely Default games, executed a divestiture of its game development business by establishing the subsidiary company Creek and River to handle game development and management in June.

Octopath Traveler, Square Enix's new original role-playing game project for the Switch, shipped worldwide on July 10.
